PUC will purchase • new safety clothes Wingham Public Utilities Com- mission linemen will become much more noticeable in the near future when outfitted in their new fluorescent safety clothing. At its June meeting, the com- mission decided to purchase three suits of fluorescent orange and green safety clothing from AGO Industries, London, for $200 per man. Each of the linemen willreceive a winter parka, a spring coat, bib overalls and three T-shirts, said Manager Ken Saxton, who adds that it should not cost as much next year as only certain garments, such as the T-shirts, will have to be replaced. The garments are the same as are worn by Ontario Hydro crews and linemen at other utilities, Mr. Saxton added. The men's $50 yearly allowance for safety boots will be eliminated, said Mr. Saxton. Commissioner Rod Wraith told Mr. Saxton that the commission is purchasing the new safety clothing "with the un- derstanding that they (the men) must wear them".
