Regiment.
In his address to the Cadets, Mr
Wittig drew upon the Canadian
Charter of Rights and his experience
as a law-enforcement officer. "The
• new charter gives us certain rights
and freedoms for which many of the
Legion members present here to-
- night have fought so ,hard for; But
• there seems to 'be a lack of
• understanding by a very small seg-
• ment of the general public that these
privileges are balanced by responsi-
ivities and duties toward our socie-
ty."
The chief noted that each Cadet
will, in due course, become a full-
fledged member of society and will
have a tremendous impact upon
shaping it.
• "That is why I fully endorse and
support the Wingham Air Cadets
Squadron and other youth organiza-
tions," he observed, "because they
teach our citizens of tomorrow those
checks and balances."
Mr. Wittig concluded his speech
by congratulating the Cadets on be-
ing part of 543 Squadron and wished
them well in their future endeavors.
The following awards were pre-
sented:

Trophy for flying scholarship to Fit.
