We had a very successful year and have eight girls who are - ready to fly up to Guides. All the girls received their service stars and we have eight girls who are going to a weekend camp at Keewaydin June 17 to 19. Some of our badge earners are Jennifer Pike, Melissa Greenaway, Becky Gillespie, Deborah Pike, Katie Adams, •Jacquelyn Elston, Jennifer Allison, Janet Lisle, Teresa Skinn, Danielle McKenzie and Lee Anne Carter. We hope to see all the girls back next year for another new year. The reason why we have two ears and only one mouth is that we may listen the more and talk the less, Zeno of Citium (300 BC) Area children attend Christian Olympics FORDWICH—Children from Trinity Church, Fordwich, who attended the Children's Festival '88 Christian Olympics in Owen Sound on Saturday, May 14, were Sarah Doubleday, Amanda and Jamie Harrold, Ian and Brian Roeder, Michelle Foster, Lee, Lindy and Terri Brunarski and Pamela Bunker. Bishop Robert Townshend led the parade to the church where a worship service and singsong were enjoyed. There were also crafts, drama and singing, then it was time for a picnic lunch. During the afternoon many out- side activities were enjoyed. Several children from St. Stephen's Church, Gorrie, also attended, as well as children from Brussels and Blyth, with their rector, Pat Nunn, They met at Fordwich and all enjoyed a bus trip together, Mrs. Peter Harrold as the driver. Teachers who accompanied the children were Mrs. Brian Doubleday, Mrs, Mark Brunarski, Peter Harrold and the rector, R. Brenda Clark, Everyone reported having a wonderful day, arriving home about 6 p.m., happy buLtired. A number of ladies from Fordwich United Church went to Midwestern Regional Centre where they helped in the monthly birthday party, Mrs. Glenn Johnston spent the weekend with Mrs, Pat Anderson at Shelburne and on Saturday, the ladies attended an anniversary party for friends at Paisley. She w taken to K -W Hospital, Kitchener, where she underwent surgery on Tuesday night. Mr. and. Mrs. Doug Hargrave and Michael and Mr. and Mrs. Wray Wilson, Amanda and Kyle enjoyed a canoe trip Sunday on the Maitland River to Withering Heights. It is hoped that folks there watch for the helicopter that may be flying in. Mrs. Anne Armstrong is now residing in the Fordwich Village Nursing Home. Anne is a former Fordwich resident. Friends in the community extend sympathy to Mrs. Alma Hargrave in the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Earl Hallman, who passed away Saturday, May 14, in K-WHospital, Kitchener, Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 17, at the Robert Trench Funeral Home, Mrs. Annie Pittendreigh, Mime McElwain and John McElwain spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs, Robert McElwain in Grimsby. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Tachuer of Toronto visited`one -day fait week with Mrs. Alma Hargrave and also attended the funeral of Mrs. Earl Hallman on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs, Brian Doubleday and family spent the weekend at Grand Bend and also visited with relatives in Wallaceburg on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Kelley visited Wednesday with Mrs, Jean Mat- thews at Elmira. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Simmons at- tended the graduation of their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Linda Sim- mons, as a Registered Nusrsing Assistant az ceremonies held in Winghal Friday. Mrs. Klaassen re-elected president of Huron East FORDWICH—Mrs. Ted Klaassen of Fordwich was re-elected for her second term as president of Huron East District Women's Institutes at the District Annual held May 10 at Monerieff. Other officers include Miss Margaret Shortreed, Walton, secretary -treasurer; Mrs. Ken McDonald, Walton, assistant secretary; Mrs. James T. McMahon, RR 2, Bluevale, first vice-president; Mrs, L. Foerter, RR 2, Clifford, second vice-president; Mrs. Holger Feldskov, RR 1, For- dwich, public relations officer; Mrs. Ruth Galbraith, Brussels, Tweed- smuir curator; Mrs, Jean Wilson, Listowel, program co-ordinator; Mrs. Harvey Craig and Mrs. Mary Humphries, Walton, auditors. After a delicious luncheon Served by the Monerieff WI members, Mrs. Klaassen called the meeting to order, Guest speaker, Mrs. Katherine Ritsma of Stratford, was introduced by Mrs. H. Claus of Howlek4unioriVI, Mrs. Ritsn3a-is a» lawyer and she spoke on the theme, "Women and the Law". As much of her practice deals with family laws, she outlined some of the changes in recent years. She was thanked by Mrs. D. Lockie, Fordwich. Mrs. R. Schmidt, board director, gave a report of the FWIO board meeting held recently. She also conducted the election and in- stallation of officers for the coming year. Mrs. Jane Muegge, ROS with the Clinton OMAF office-, outlined some of the upcoming 4-11 programs and some of the services available to organizations through their office. Reports were given by the program co-ordinator, Mrs. Wilson; PRO, Mrs. Feldskov and Tweedsmuir, Mrs. Galbraith. An invitation to the mernbers was extended by the Majestic branch to the 1 9 District Annual which will be held in Brussels.
