Transportation des transports Agency of Canada du Canada NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The National Transportation Agency of Canada will hold a public' hearing in Wingham, Ontario, June 2, 1988 to reconisder an application from the Cana- dian National Railway Company to abandon the operation of the Kincardine Subdivision -from Listowel (mileage 1.41) to Wingham (mileage 30.34), a total distance of 28.93 miles. Among other things, the Agency is required under Section 164 (a) and (b) of ° the National Transportation Act, 1987, to determine if the branch line is eco iic or uneconomic, and if uneconomic, whether there is a reasonable prof Aity of the branch line becoming economic in the forseeable future. If the Agency finds that the line will continue to be uneconomic, it must order the line abandoned within six months. On the other hand, if it determines that the line is economic or will be so, the Agency must also decide if it is required in the public interest before deciding it should be abandoned or retained. During the period, between November 1987.and April i98&, Goderich OPP officers have in- vestigated three incidents" of break; enter and theft in Stanley Township. Police believe the three` May be Connected. At the break and enter which occurred at Snowden Acres, the thieves forced a ground level, sliding window into the kitchen and climbed through the window. Once inside they went from room to room removing articles.. The total loss from this home was more'than $3,700. Articles such as the television, a video casette recorder, a receiver for a satellite dish,.a Candle microwave oven, and a portable micro furnace were stolen. Property totalling more than $6,600 was taken from the other two homes in Stanley Township. In both instances, electronic items such as TVs, turntables and;. such were 1012,1., stolen.
