Another successful curling season
at the Winghan* Golf and Curling
Club ended late last month and the
golf' season wan officially Opened.
The curling club had an en-
couraging year, according to Judy
Booth,' club president. A popular
c° mpetitive league was started and
there was a full draw of eight teams,
consisting of one ladies' rink, one
mixed .and six men's rinks.
This league will continue next
year, possibly with a second draw.
Another first this year, says Mrs.
Booth, was the formation of a
seniors' league for members and
non-members.
Special thanks are extended to
Carol Reid and Margaret MacLeod
for keeping the community informed
of the goings-on at the club through
the "Broom and Stone" newspaper
column. All executive members also
are thanked for their help
throughout the season.
This year, 1988, marks the cen-
tennial of the Wingham Curling
Club's affiliation with. the Ontario
Curling Association. It has been
confirmed that : the OCA will be
presenting a plaque to the club to
commemorate this special event:
The 1988-89 curling season , will
begin in November. All new and
interested members are welcome to
come out and try the game.

111 horseshoe tournament
Two categories competed in last
Saturday's " horseshoe tournarnent
held at the Wingham Sportsmen's
Club.
Double -round games of 40 points
were played in the 'A' division.
Lloyd Meeb of Kitchener and Syd
Lawson, Goderich, were first with
four wins and a plus of 35. Edward
Meeb . of Kitchener and. Bruce
Ort'lieb, Bluevale, were second with
three wins. and a plus of 98.
Third late went, -to Harold Carter
and Ivan l ivett,„both of Goderich,
three *ins and a pis of 75, while

two wins' anda plus of 99.
