United chtlreh has issued a strong statement against - recommen tions put forth by the report: ‘19,1, • •ward a Christian Understanding of Sexuality, Lifestyles and Ministry;. The Merribeisrecently were given an opportunity to express opinion on the report's recom- mendations, after having had a week to peruse the three pages of recommendations which essentially propose that "sexual orientation in and of itself is not a barrier to participation in all aspects of the life and ministry of the church, in- cluding the order of ministry,"- as well as liberalizing standards for what is morally responsible behavior. Two bids were received and opened at the second monthly meeting of Turnberry council. Mr. Haines' bid of $52 per acre per year for the 50 -acre parcel is the higher of „the two.
