Following the summer vacation
the pulpits of three of the churches
of town were filled by their own
pastors on Sunday, who received a
very warm reception. Old Sol shone
brightly and the thermometer reg-
istered the highest degree of temp-
erature that has been experienced
for 'some time. Quite a number of
the faithful braved the heat and
were found in their family pews. At
James St. Sunday, School the record
for the first time this year fell' just
below the 200 mark. A slight show
er came uta about six o'clock and
somewhat cleared the atmosphere,

I wonder if all the people in this
conimunity took in the Flower Show
held .by the IIorticultural Society on
Friday and Saturday, in the build
ing owned and loaned free of charge
to the Society, by Mr. S. - M. Sand-
erinane who owizs and operates
the' clothing factory. The Society de-
serve a heap of Credit for the in-
terest tlieytake `in beautifying the
desolated spots in this, 'the `prettiest
village in Huron' County. There are
very` few homes in Exeter that do
not grow some species` of flowers.
In some gardens one, will find from
50- to 100 varieties
