LAKELET----MrS. Percy Huth Was
hostess for the annual meeting of the
Wornen's Institute. Following a pot-
luck luncheon, Mrs. Derrilifallman,
president, opened and presided over
the business meeting, T -he election of
officers for 1 9 was conducted by
Mrs. H. Wallace.
A program planning meeting will
be held today (Tuesday) at 1:30 at
Mrs. Hallman's home.
Following the close of the meeting,
an auction was held. The branch
members will be collecting for the
Canadian Cancer Society this
month.

JAN JACKSON of Wingham worked in the book department at last
week's hospital auxiliary rummage sale held at the Wingham Ar-
mouries building. The two-day spring sale raised over $1,800 for
the auxiliary.

Doris Hays reported that the quilt
which the members made for the
Maple Syrup Festival brought a
profit of $241.50. This money is
donated to the festival board to be
used for the community centre
expenses. Robert Stafford of RR 1,
Wroxeter, was the lucky winner of
the quilt.
Forty-six of the Institute's cook-
books were sold at the festival.
Approximately 3,000 people at-
tended the special event.
Other ways the Institute assists in
community life include sponsoring 4-
H clubs, euchre parties, the
Teeswater Fall Fair display, a
short-order cooking demonstration
and collecting for the Canadian
