"Are you saying that you believe one of us is the informed source? " Dr. McGregor asked. "Because if you do, that charge must be proven and if it isn't, then I suggest that you should resign." At thispoint Mr. Beecroft made_a motion which called for the meeting to go into a committee -of -the -whole session and that the fire department representatives be asked to leave the room. However, that motion was defeated and the discussion con-, tined. "I think that it's time the board got down to looking after the procedures and policies of the fire board, and the firefighters and the chief lowed after the operation of the department," Mr. Beecroft said, Building renewal program in town (Continued from Page 1) per unit. -No repaymentsfor the firstfive years of the loan. --After the firstfive years, forgiveness will be earned at the rate of 10 per cent per year, subject to the following: the units remain as rental, the property is retained by the borrower, involvement of land- lord in management and technical training development programs if requested by the ministry, in- volvement of landlord in program evaluation and promotional work if requested by the ministry, and demonstrated effort to prevent tenant disruption during the rehabilitation process. In Wingham, Clerk -Treasurer Byron Adams will be responsible for the program's administration. Dr. McGregor also said he was not even notified of the meeting at which the ad hoc committee prepared its report, and that he found out eventually from Mr Beecroft who, he said, had "heard it through the grapevine". When Mr. Jacques replied- that be had tried to contact Dr. McGregor to. inform him of the meeting, but was unable to do see, the Wingham representative said he could not understand why, since he had no recon 3 of any calls. "I wasn't at that meeting because you -didn't want me. - to be there," he said. When Dr. McGregor then called for the resignation of Mr. Jacques, the chairman said he would resign "if the board will accept it." Turnberry Township represen- tative Doug Fortune called for cooler heads to prevail. "I've sat on this board for some time and we have had some disputes before," Mr. Fortune said. "Some of them were very serious, but wiser heads have always prevailed and to this point, people on this board have done a tremendous job." For the record, he said, "this board has never discussed wages, has never discussed a full-time chief ... personally, I have no idea what that salary can be.", Morris Township representative Clem McLellan said he thinks "there should be an ad put in the paper saying that it's a false report", but when a reporter asked what part of the report is false, the reply was s*'rice. Mr. Jacques then declared the dis- cussion closed, NEW IDEA DOESN'T WORK! Rather grimly, the Wingham Times of August 15, 1890, reported that the electric light was being tested in Seaforth and was not giving satisfaction. It was the Ball arc system and Seaforth Council was involved in the testing of the new convenience. BOOK FAIR to be held at the F. E.
