Howick Council Briefs
GORRIE-At a regular meeting
held on April 5, Howick Township
-Council:
—Awarded a contract for boring
under County Road 30 in the Police
Village of Fordwich to Barry Weigel
Ltd., at a cost of $6,966.
—Authorized the clerk -treasurer to
make an application to the Ministry
of Transportation for a grant to-
talling $2,400 for the construction
and reconstruction of 400 feet of
sidewalk along County Road 28 in
the Police Village of Gorrie.
—Decided to ask the Ministry of
Ili% sing to conduct an Assisted
Housing Survey Update.
—Voiced no objection to the
Wroxeter Parks Board obtaining a
beer garden licence for July 8-10, in
conjunction with a fastball tourna-
ment and July 21-24, in conjunction
with a slo-pitch tournament.
—Awarded Lois Howes of Gorrie
with the permit to sell dog tags at
$3.50 per tag and $6.00 per kennel
licence.
—Adopted the maintenance budget
application drawn up by drainage
superintendent Andy McBride. The
cost is set at $7,100.
—Authorized clerk -treasurer Tom
Miller to attend a five-day profes-
sional development workshop to be
held June 24-29 in Toronto by the
Asociation of Municipal Clerks and
Treasurers of Ontario.
—Approved an Ontario Horne
Renawal Program (OHRP) loan for
a Wroxeter resident, with a for-
givable portion of $2,500 and a
repayable portion of $3,500 for a total
loan of $6,000. The repayable loan is
to be repaid over eight years at a six
per cent interest rate; a monthly
payment of $45,87.
