HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Wingham Advance-Times, 1988-04-12, Page 27Wheeler family mourns death of Mrs. Crellin Members of the Wheeler family in the Belgrave area are this week mourning the death of Mrs. Bernard . T. P. Crellin of 8 Woodland Place, London, on Saturday, April 2, at London's Parkwood Hospital. She was in her 69th year and death followed a ten-month illness. A native of Morris Township, Mrs. Crellin was the former Nora May Wheeler, a daughter of the late Cecil Wheeler and Edna Scandrett. She attended SS No. 5, Morris and Wing - ham High School, later graduating from Westervelt Business College. After her marriage to Mr. Crellin in Knox United Church, Belgrave, in September of 1941, she became a resident of London where she worked for many years as a school secretary for the London Board of Education. She retired in.,1984.. She was a member of Colborne Street United Church. Left to mourn, besides her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Ju (Catherine) White of Markhanl; three sons, Michael. Creilin of Toronto, Douglas and Paul Crellin,, both of Landon and eight grandchil- dren. There are two sisters, Mrs. Laurence (Ruth) Davis of Brampton and Mrs. Albert (Mary) Turner of Abbottsford, British Columbia. Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, April 5, at two o'clock at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, London, by Rev. David R. Carrothers. Cremation followed. Wm J. Perrie passes in Wingham hospital A resident of the Brussels area, William James Perrie of RR 3, Brussels, died in Wingham and District Hospital on Thursday, April 7, in his 85th year, A native of Grey Township, Mr. Perrie was a son of the late James and Jessie (McNair) Perrie. He operated the John Deere dealership in the village of Brussels for many years. COSGROVE — Dennis and Janice of Pickering, Ontario, are thrilled to announce the arrival of their son, Tyler Cameron, at the Oshawa General Hospital on April 1. A brother for Meaghan. Happy grand- parents are Cameron and Lenore MacTavish, Wingham, Mr. Perrie is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Pollard; one son, Rev. James Perrie and his wife, Marion, of RR 3, Fenwick; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Perrie, RR 3, Brussels; seven grandchildren, Marie, Verna, Heather and her husband, Bob Williamson, Will, Lori Ann, Paul and Linda. There is one brother, John A. Perrie of RR 3, Brussels. BRIDGE — Mr. and Mrs. David Bridge, RR 1, Gorrie, are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Sarah Marie, eight pounds, three ounces, on April 2 at Wingham and District Hospital. MILLER — Mr. and Mrs. Tom Miller of Wingham welcome with love their second son, Devin James, seven pounds, 15 ounces, born April 5 at Wingham and District Hospital. A brother for Drew and new grand- son for Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Coultes and Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt Miller. DOIG — Doug, Susan and Jane are thrilled to announce a new addition to their family, Jordan Andrew John, nine pounds, one ounce, on April 6 at Wingham and District Hospital. Proud grandparents are Art and Donna Egan of Smith's Falls and Ron and Joan Doig, RR 1, Listowel. GUAY — Mr. and Mrs. Ray Guay, Lucknow, proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Laurie Elizabeth, seven poun ez, 14 ounces, on April 6 at Wingham and District Hospital. A sister for Susan. LATOUR — James and Susan an- nounce the birth of their daughter, Michelle Marie, seven pounds, 13 ounces, on April 6 at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Grandparents are Sylvia Latour of Wingham and Rose and Edward Ritchie of Nanaimo, B.C. ; great-grandmothers are Agnes Ritchie and Edie Hitchens. Brian and Ruth Latour of Wingharn are proud uncle and atmt. Lorne Durnin former reeve of township Lome Durnin of VVItitechurch died in Wingham and District Hospital on March 22 in his 87th year. He was born in West Wawanosh Township on January 6, 1902, to the late John Durnin and Margaret Woods. A retired farmer, Mr. Durnin had served on the West Wawanosh Township School Board and Council and was a former reeve of the township. He was a member of Whitechurch United Church. On Oct. 9, 1971, in Dungannon United Church manse, he married Gertrude Martin Scholtz of East Wawanosh, who survives. Mr. Durnin also leaves his son, J. D. and his wife, Grace Anne, son, Ross and his wife, Lois, all of West. Wawa - nosh; stepson, Clayton Scholtz and his wife, Laura, of Goderich. Three grandchildren, Steven, Colleen and Ruth Anne and six step -grandchil- dren, Max, Mike, Dawn, Karen, Lisa and Kent, also survive. Mr. Durnin was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Kennedy, in 1966; four brothers, Robert, Case, Harry and John and one sister, Annie. Visitation took place at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, with funeral service held in Whitechurch United Church on March 30, conducted by Rev. John Neilson. Organist was Agnes Farrier, with Dave Gibb and Steven Durnin acting as flower bearers. Pallbearers were Elroy Laidlaw, Stan Norman, Harold Cooke, Wayne Durnin, Gordon Foran and Albert „ Taylor, Spring interment will take place in Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
