We had the pleasure of taking
some of the, taleat of some of the
local people. We enjoyed the singing
and playing of music. Overall, it was
a wonderful time.
We had a tour of the new Belmore
seniors' apartments, Bell Haven.
The apartments were designed with
the special needs of older adults and
the disabled in mind. Tours of the
building can be arranged and if you
are interested in housing for seniors, _
it would be worth your while.
We have begun the next step in our
ceramics program. Now we are
taking time to clean the greenware
in preparation for the first firing.
The,2 interesting thing about
ceramics is that you have no_ idea
what the final piece will look like
until it comes out of the kiln after the
final firing.
This week we will have the help of
a work -week student from F. E.
Madill Secondary School. Rhonda
-Bennett is interested in finding out
about the operation of a day centre
for seniors. Everyone is looking
forward to meeting you, Rhonda!

On the 21st of April we will be
holding our annual Appreciation
Night for our very dedicated volun-
teers, all 66 of them. April 17-24 is
recognized nationally as Volunteer
Week. We should do this all the time,
thank our volunteers for all the hard
work and energy they give to the
operation of the Day Centre. We are
planning a potluck dinner for the
evening of the 21st, along with a pre-
sentation by a special guest speaker
from the Alzheimer Community
Support Service at Parkwood Hos-
pital in London. Barry Flanagan,
who has a master's degree in social
work, will speak about Alzheimer's
disease, a topic that so many are
interested to learn about. Volunteers
are reminded to tell us if they will be
attending the evening or not, by
Thursday, April 14. If no one is in the
11 ice, please leave a message on the
nswering machine. Hope to see you
all there!
