TO IAV CORNERSTONE
In May of 1914, preparations were
being made for a large crowd at the
cornerstone laying of Melville
Presbyterian Church in Brussels the
following Monday. Rev. Dr.
MacDonald of Tpronto was due to
perform the important ceremony
and there would be other speakers
and a musical .program. Later that
same year, tragedy struck the site
when in course of construction of the
new church, two men, William
Brown of 'Fullarton and Robert
Harkness of Brussels, fell from the
scaffolding and were severely in-
jured. Mr. Harkness later died of his
injuries.
