Often, simply the' satisfaction of knowing their con- tribution has helped to make the quality of. life within the community even the slightest bit better is enough reward for these people. Perhaps, too, it is the grateful smile of a person who has been directly helped which isihe:oniy com- pensation. Far too"seldom are these individuals—described best as having. a "heart of gold" given the public recognition which they truly deserve. Mostly, of course, this sterns from the very nature of .the motivation which spurs these wonderful people to go about their' special duties. seemingly without tiring, uncomplaining and in relative anonymity. They are everywhere in our community: the minor hockey coach who starts his weekday mornings in a.cold hockey rink, the lady downthe street whose tireless efforts. have resulted in successfut campaigns for a number of charities, neighbors who are dedicated leaders of ` our ° youth groups Even when their unselfishness is pointed out to them, these people will often suggest their contributions are insignificant in comparison to the work of others the y know. However, Air Canada in partnership newspapers across Canada is this with community bestow upon these "heart of gold" year attempting to which they deserve, and our aders are asked to alp.le the recognition ask you to come forth and nominate that special someone in your neighborhood, club, church or organization who consistently gives that -extra time and effort to the corn munity and its residents. The nominations are for the Ai Canada "Heart of Gold" Award and advertisements whit include nomination forms have appeared in thi newspaper.. Nominations Will b accepted for a period of four months starting immediately All the nominator has to do is fill in the form and leave at our office or mail it to the Canadian Community News papers Association, Suite .705, 88 University Avenue Toronto, Ontario, M5J 1T6. It's that simple! Nominees will receive an award certificate recognizing their contribution and in many instances, will be featured in news stories. They will also be considered for provincial or national recognition by a panel of community news- paper editors and publishers. Certainly there are others in the area who feel as we do that this community has several such Heart_of Gold Award candidates. The next step is to pick up the nomination form and write in that person's name. It's a great way for us to thank these people.
