A large crowd turned out on gun -

and deciding "gable of the OMHA
Bantam 'D' semi-final at the Howick
Community -Centre. -
The. Beverly and Howick teams
did not disappoint the spectators as
the game turned out to be a classic.
The game followed the same script
as the previous four games with the
home team dominating early in thecontest. ,
The Howick squad came out flying
forcing Beverly into several mis-
takes early in the first period.
Howick was on the power play when
Phillip Livermore deflected Jaret
Henhoeff el.'s hard slapshot past Phil
Davis in the Beverly net at the four
minute Mark.
A picture passing play by Howick
from behind the Beverly net resulted
in Donald Livermore scoring the
second goal. Andrew Weber and
John Greig made the play possible
with fine passes-.
Jason Jacobson Opened up a three
goal lead for Howick after one frame
as he took a perfect pass from. Hen-
hoeffer and blasted a shot from six
feet in front of the goal.
John Greig increased the lead to
four goals with just over a minute of
play in the "second period. Rob Van
Den Broek and Weber thew assists
on the goal.
Beverly finally hit the scoreboard
with just under two minutes (*play
in the second period on a power play
effort by Todd Hawey. Coach Ron
Livermore moved Gibson to, left
wing in the final minutes of play mid
the move paid great dividends as he
scored a breakaway goal with only
39 seconds left.
The 5-1 score set the stage for a
hectic third period and Gibson's goal
eventually proved to be the winner.
Beverly came out very strong and
determined in the third period and
created a nervous period for the
Howick squad and their supporters.
A. rash of penalties in the period
did not help Howick as 4everiy
scored two powerplay goals one by
Harvey and the second by Glen BO-
kins.
In the last minute of play with
Davis pulled from the net in favor of
an extra attacker, Harveyscored his
hat, trick on a deflection by Howick
goaliender Peter Stewart,
Howick managed to hold on for the
i victory and their berth in the
011/1i1A finals against Nerotood.
