Aresearch study on tourism
development in Huron has been
, commissioned by the Huron County
department of planning and
development as part of a longer-
, term project concerning the
potential for tourism development
here.
A statement announcing the study,
points out that for some time now,
increasing numbers of visitors have
been coming to Huron County. With
this in mnd, the department feels it
is time to review this activity and
apply that information to plan better
• for both county residents and
visitors.
The present project will focus on
the attitudes' and reactions of local
residents to tourism. The study is
based on the •bend that the
aspirations of the local communities
are central to a healthy tourist in-
dustry and to •the "welcoming
feeling" a visitor would sense frotn a
destination area. Por this reason, a
full spectrum of views held by
county residents is the study's ob-
jective.
