The Wingham Great China House
PeeWee team played one
exhibition match and two at the
Walkerton tournament last week,
losing all three by only one goal.
Last Tuesday the team travelled
to Hensall for an exhibition match -
up. There was no scoring until the
half -way • mark of the second when
Duane Patterson shot one in,
assisted by Ivan Skinn. However,
one minute later Hensall managed
to tie things up.
With just two minutes left, Jason
Kregar, assisted by Patterson,
scored for Wingham again. The
seesaw battle continued as Hensall
tied the giine by the end of the
second frame.
The score remained tied with both
teams working hard, but Hensall
finally went ahead with just two
minutes remaining on the clock. Try
as they might, the Wingham lads
could not get anything past the sharp
Hensall goalie. The final score was
3-2 for the host team.
Last Saturday the Great China
House squad played ,the Walkerton
Larson team in their first game of
the Walkerton tournament. The
China House boys had defeated
Walkerton in regular play earlier
this year and should have been able
to hold their own, but it was not to
be.
Walkerton scored early in the first
and the China House lads had dif-
ficulty getting past the other team's
goalie \and it wasn't until 'the mid-
point of the second that ilodgins
made a beautiful pass to Patterson, •
who then took it all the way on a
clear breakaway.
Walkerton scored twice before the
local team could manage another
goal, this time a beauty by Terry
Thynne from Patterson and
Hodgins. The final count was 3-2 for •
Walkerton.
The Wingham boys then came up
against their •playoff rivals,
Lucluiow. The China House players
lost this one, again by a score of 3-2
in a real heartbreaker. Wingham
goals were scored by Thynne,
assisted by Jason Daw and Pat-
terson, unassisted, when he caught
the Lucknow goalie napping and
shot one in from the red line.
Lucknow's winning goal was
scored with only 14 seconds left on
the clock.
Although the boys were un-
fortunate in losing their last three
games, they have had a busy and a

very good year, playing 38 games,
including three tournaments. The
team record stands at 16 wins, 10
losses and two ties. As .a• whole, the
team has played superb hockey with
some exceptional talent show. Rob
Johnston has had a great year in net
for 21 games: winning 15, losing five
and tying one.
The team thanks its sponsor, the
Great China House. The boys and
coaches also thank the parents who
patiently did the driving and came
out to encourage the team on at
games. The coaches are also to be
thanked and congratulated.
