Approval for Huron's 19 con.soli
dated budget of $22,028,721 was
handed down by Huron County
Couneff at a meeting last Thursday

This year's budget represents a
6.67 per cent increase over that of
last year and was recommended to
council by its executive committee
which reViewed the dOcutnent
-section by -Seton at a" meeting
March 10. ••
The amount- la be raised from
county ratepayers is $5,224,249, an
increase of 59 per cent over the
$4,932,547 budgeted in 1987.
Largest source of revenue in the
budget is the $11,713,110 in provini
cial government grants, ' while
federal grantslor the- Huronrounty
Pioneer Museum project will tot8L
$871,305. Mtmicipal grants and fees -
are projected at $17,100, and fees
and service charges are expected to
provide revenue of $2,961,047. An
additional -$748,277 ,is anticipated

In addition, - the budget includes
surplus entries from 1937 of: $337,937
in the general account, $106,200 for
highways and $67,922 for the Huron
County Library.

lengthy debate, council decided to

Wingliam has advanced to the Dominion Command competition of
the Roythl Canadian Legion. Don Farnell of the local Legion branch
presented Miss Grant with a certificate at the Monday morning
assembly at The F. E. Madill Secondary School. Her poem won
branch, zone, district and provincial competitions before adVanding
to the Canada -wide contest
