TIME OUT FOR A REST ® Danny McPherson- of Wingham took a
well-deserved time out for a rest in a street hockey game during the
March Break.

two weekend tournaments _
The Wingham Kentucky Nuggets
Novice `13' team travelled to a
tournament in .Palmerston last
weekend and advanced to the finals
against Harriston.
In their first game of the tour-
nament, the boys met up with a
tough Hanover squad. The two
teams were well -matched and this
resulted in a hard-fought game.
David Laing opened the scoring
for Wingham, but Hanover tied the
count at 1-1. Laing scored again for
the Nuggets, followed shortly by
Trevor Huffman's marker to end the
first period 3-1 in Wingham's favor.
Hanover came on strong in the
second period and tied the game.
The tie held throughout the rest of
the match and a shoot-out finally
was needed to determine the winner.
Wingham's Paul Machan and
goalie Scott Allen did their jobs and
broke the tie in the Nuggets' favor.
The boys' second game was
against Walkerton and proved to be
another sit -on -the -edge -of -your -seat
type. With just over one minute
remaining in the match -up, Huff-
man came through with a hard shot
from the blueline to score.
Just to be on the safe side, he
added another marker with 45
seconds left. This was a real team
effort, defensively and offensively.
In the championship game the
Nuggets met Harriston, a team that
came out and scored two fast goals.
In the second frame, Harriston
scored again to increase its lead to 3-
0. However, Machan finally put
Wingham on the scoreboard,
assisted by Laing.
The final frame saw Harriston
score once again to take a 4-1 lead.
But I{Uffman's hard work and
LakOasSist4nce paid off when the
Nuggets hit the scoresheet again,
