In .June of 1953, theY-pur chased -the wallpaper, paint and gift shop from Hee tor Purdoni located in the present Finlay residence at 568 Campbell Street, Lucknow. They later eliminated the gift shop and added a complete line of carpeting, floorcovering and drapery. They purchased the property from Miss Gertrude Treleaven in 1958. In 1966, the Knechtel property to the east was purchased and used as a warehouse until it was demolished and a new warehouse and showroom were built in 1977. In 1983, the warehouse and showroom were remodeled to include the retail store with the entire business, known through the years as Finlay Decorators, operating from the one. location. Bob was a member of Lucknow United Church where he served at one time as a Sunday School teacher and chairman of the manse com- mittee. He was a former member of the 2ist (R.E.S.) F.D. Regt. R.C.A. 99th Battery, Wingham and was a member of Old Light Masonic Lodge No, 184, Lucknow. Robert was predeceased by his father, David H. Finlay and his mother, Mrs. Ethel (Finlay) Cook. Visitation was at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow on Wednesday and Thurs- day. The funeral and committal service was conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Miirch 11, at two o'clock by Rev. Gerald McFarlane of Lucknow United Church. Spring interment will take place at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Hawthorne, Robert Struthers, Eldon Bradley, Alex Andrew, Gerald Priestap and Donald Thompson. Wilbur Turnbull dies in hospital at VVingham A resident of the village of Brussels for many years, Wilbur Evans Turnbull of Thomas Street, passed away in Wingham and District Hospital on Monday, March 7. He was in his 92nd year. Mr. Turnbull was born in Grey Township and is survived by his wife, the former Jennie Elizabeth McGavin ; two sons, Dr. J[ohn and his wife, Marion, of Seaforth, Bill and his wife, Marie, Brussels; two daughters, Helen Habkirk of Ingersol and Mrs. Doug (Dorothy) Lawless, Burlington. There are 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchil- dren; two great -great-grandchil- dren; one brother, James Turnbull of Peterborough and one sister, Jean Buchanan, Goderich. Rev. Charles Carpentier con- ducted funeral service at two o'clock on March 9 at the Brussels Chapel of M. L. Watts Funeral Home. Interment followed in Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Habkirk, Lewis Youngblut, Jim Papple, Donald Murray, Ron Uhler and Jim Fritz. Floral tributes were carried by Bob Habkirk, Grant Fellowfield, Tim Fritz, Tyler Papple and Jan van Vliet. Former Wingham resident dies at Caressant Care Mary Jane Nicholson, formerly of Wingham, died on March 7 at the Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel. She was Mrs. Nicholson was born on Oct. 24, 1899 in Wallace Township. She was the daughter of the late George Henry and Mary Jane (Barnett) Ash. She was predeceased by her husband, John Emerson Nicholson whom she married on March 16, 1920. Mrs. Nicholson was a member of the Anglican Church, Wingham. She is survived by two daughters, Marguerite Small of Listowel and Mrs. Elton (Helen) Elliott of ER 2, Listowel; one daughter-in-lavv, Mabel Nicholson of Atwood; brother, Robert Ash of RR 1, Listowel; sisters, .Margaret San- derson of RR 1, lilluevale; Hazel Hamilton of RR 2, Listowel and Vietta Rothwell of Cambridge. She is also survived by 10 grand- children, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, George Nicholson; three brothers and three sisters. The funeral service will be held on March 10 at 2 p.m. at the Kevin E. 'Brown Funeral Home, McLaughlin and Reed Chapel, Listowel. Visitation will be held on March 9 from 2 to 4p.m. and from 7 to9 Rev. Stephen Harnadek will of- ficiate at the service.
