President Helen Currie _opened the 'fleeting with a reading, "Count Your Be ings". The Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect followed. Minutes of the February meeting were read by assistant secretary, Mrs. Russell McGuire. A workshop__ will be held in Walkerton on March 29 at 10 a.M., with the topic, "Recharge Your Batteries" and a fee of $5.00. Anyone wishing to attend' may contact Mrs. Currie. The ladies will attend a play in Blyth in June instead of taking their usual bus trip. The 60th an- niversary of the Institute will be celebrated June 8 in the Whitechurch hall, with a noon meal catered by Donnybrook UCW. The roll call, "Something you would like to see the government do for the good of mankind", brought many good answers, i.e., provide better postal service; lower taxes; keep promises; get down to work and quit bickering. Mrs. Tiffin read a poem, then gave the motto on security. She talked about security being protection, that one always feels secure in his own country. But she urged her listeners to put their faith in God, rather than man, and they would have security. Parks association nets $2,500 from snow rally FORDWICH-Good winter weather and community spirit combined to make this year's Fordwich Com- munity Parks Association's snow- mobile poker rally one of the best ever. The association reports approxi- mately $2500 was raised. It will be spent on improving the village's recreation facilities. Besides the snowmobile poker rally, the weekend featured a cross- country ski poker rEdly, an afternoon 02—hre floid 'la A total of 101 machines registered for the 55 -mile poker rally. The event was won by Brad Neable of wanstown 'With Jog* Stewart of IVIelesworth placing second. The five -mile croSS-country ski poker winners were Dave Ilaasnoot of Gorrie and Nellie Allan of Ford- vvich. The afternoon euchre tournament attracted seven tables. Winners were: high man, Frieda Klaassen; low mail, Marion Johnston; high lady, Olive Dobney, low lady, Mary Alexander.
