The Wingham Optimist Atoms
played host to Walkerton last
•Saturday, losing 5-1. Jeremy
Creeden scored Wingliani!-s lone
goal.
On Sunday, Wingham tr, veled to
Wall,terton. This time, Wingham
opened the scoring early in the first
period on a goal by Brett Sangster,
assisted by Shawn Gedcke.
In the second frame, Walkerton
• scored three goals to take a 3-1 lead.
However, Wingham struggled back
to score two more in the third. Steve
Anger scored, unassisted, as did
Creeden to tie the game.
Walkerton scored three, third -
period goals to end the game at 63 in
its favor.
Pre -Tykes win
one and lose one
The Wingham Pre -Tykes traveled
to Belmore last Thursday and
despite going ahead 4-0, they let the
opposition back in the game and
came up on the short end of a 5-4
score.
Aaron McBurney scored his first
goal of the year and Chris Roberts
also tallied one. Andrew Laing had a

Last Saturday night, Clifford was
in town- and t4e, match was easily
more entertaining than "Hockey
Night in Canada" that evening.
The home team posted an 114 win.
Roberts and Laing each had a hat
trick and Greg Machan and Zack
O'Krafka rapped in two each. Joel
Leitch played a fine defensive game
and scored -his first goal of the
season.
All the b ys, including Wesley
Stapleton, Jarnie Chester, Justin
MacTavish, Kent McPherson and
Philip Adams played superb hockey
with defensive work much more in
evidence than in previous games; portion.

placed third overall at an interclub
competition held Feb: 28 at Clinton.
A total_Of12 clubs competed.
Individual Wingham skaters
placing highly include Christa
Crawford, gold in the • interpretive
free skate bronze in the prepared
solo and Charles Trapp, gold in the
interpretive free skate. Crawford
and Trapp won as well in the dance
• Kara Neil won the gold medal in
the interpretive free skate for her
age category and Lisa Alexander
• won thesilver medal in dance.
Other Wingham skaters com-
peting were Shari Mundell, Tina
Kotsanis, Wendy McBride, Andrea
McBride, Dianne Ross, Jayne
Vincent, Janell Cretier, Kelly Neil,
Jenni Kerr, Amy Jo Cretier, Yvonne
Trapp and Patricia Daer.
