The Wingham Police Departmeht
is, now officially a member of the
Hanover Communications System,
.Policee Chief Robert Wittig told the
Wingham Board, of _Police Commis-
sioners at its March meeting.
The changeover to the Hanover
system from a Goderich-based
system went smoothly, Chief Wittig
said, and was completed March 1.
Officials held off the switching of
antenna equipment for one day
because of high winds, but that
appears to be the only difficulty
encountered in the operation, he
added.
There is a small amount of radio
interference being experienced at
this time, but that iS not a 'naajorl
problem, Chief Wittig°said, calling it
more of an annoyance than a
-probtem.
"All radio .linits are m place and
working well. They're -satisfied at
their end (Haf*ver) ' and I'm
satisfied at this end:"
He also gave credit to Gederich
personnel for co-operating during
the changeover, one of the reasons
why the operation went so smoothly
and with no disruption in service.
"This is basically a change,which
the general public won't really be
aware has happened? said Board
Chairman Fred McGee. The
department's ' phone number
remains the same, he pointed out;,
