There was no scoring until late in
the second period when-Listo-wel's
Jonathon Powell netted one.
Then with five and one-half
minutes remaining in the game,
Wingham tied it up when Jamie
MacKay gave another demon-
stration of the results of the second
effort as he cashed in his own
rebound.
Mark Tripp got the game winner
with two minutes remaining, not-
ching a powerplay goal.
Dave Meulenstein got the in-
surance goal with one minute
remaining. Steve Smith assisted on
the two final goals.
Wingham will host Listowel next
Friday at 6:45 p.m. for game two.

In exhibition action last Sunday,
Wingham shut down Mount Forest
10-2.
Wingham built up an 8-0 lead
before Mount Forest hit the
scoreboard with four minutes
elapsed in the third.
Bryan deBruyn led Wing,ham's
offence, picking up a hattrick. Mark
Gibson and MacKay combined
nicely several times throughout the
game and each banged in two goals
and assisted on two others.
Joel Pegg had opened the scoring
with a shot fromthe pint with five
minutes remaining in the first.

Lucknow in a best -of -three serie
and has moved on to play th
Walkerton Wyatt team.
Wingham and Lucknow were tie
at one game apiece in their serie
coming into the Feb. 18 contest. Th
fans anticipated an exciting gam
and certainly were not disappointe
as it Was the most exciting and bes
game the local lads have played a
season.
By the time six minutes ha

Wingham's ladies'. intermediate
team, better known as the Blues, has
reached a berth in the WOAA finals.
Teams in the league play a home-
and-horne, round-robin series with
the two top teams advancing to the
finals.
Last Sunday the Blues faced off in
Tiverton against the Big . Red,
defeating their hosts by a 3-2 count.
Wingharn started on a goal by Julie
Leedham, assisted by Tammy
Kieffer. Tiverton . tied the score to
end the first period and scored the
only,goal° of the seeond-to take a 2-1
lead. •

Tiverton opened the scoring with
the only goal of the first period The
Blues' Kulas scored, the only goal of
the second, assisted by MacDonald,
to leave the two teams tied at 1-1
going into the third.
Three minutes into the third

scored, unassisted, to put the Blues :A special mention goes out to

they now face another hurdle going

face a great challenge as the two
