The Mustangs started strongly opening up a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Caslick, and Purves. However, the Dodgers fought back to defeat the Mustangs by a final count of 7-4. Last Tuesday night's action saw the Stainton Spitfires and the Advance -Times Newsboys play off. Stainton's jumped into an early 2-0 lead on -goads by Phil Beard. However. the Newsboys tied the game early in the third period. Rick Jacklin potted the winning goal for Stainton's on a screened shot. from the point._.. With one week left to go in the regular season, Crawford's have clinched first place with 20 points. Other high games were bowled by Rob McKenzie 300; Blair Bushell 283; Paul Rintoul 266; Bill Johnston 249 and Vern Steffler 242. 8 • Nuggets team hosts Belmore in consolation The Wingham Kentucky Nuggets Novice "B" team recently hosted Belmore in the first game of the consolation round and will play in Belmore this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. In last week's game, Trevor Huffman opened the scoring for Wingham late in the first period. In the second frame, Jamie Good scored, assisted by John Martin and Paul Machan to give the Nuggets a 2-0 lead. However, in the third period, Belmore's Greg Weber scored, assisted by Brad Metcalfe. Wingha 's David Laing then scored, assisted by Huffman, to give Winghani a 3-1 lead. Behnore's Metcalfe scored two quick markers ,to tie the match 'before Huffman and Laing joined forces to score two goals for Wingham and increase the see to 5-3. Machan then scored, unassisted, followed by a goal by Laing and - finally Ryan Robinson lit up the scoreboard for the 8-3 final for Wingham.
