95,000 road
Turnberry Township Council will
apply for $95,000 in supplementary
• subsidy in 19 : from the Ontario
Ministry of Trarisportation.
The road budget was discussed at
length at the second regular
February meeting and will be set at
the first meeting in March.
If the subsidy is awarded, $60,000
• will be used to pave the remainder of
the B-line. Council also applied for
subsidy for the project last year, but
was turned down. The remaining
$35,000 will cover the cost of
_ reconstruction of the Morris-
Turnberry boundary at Bluevale.
Among the other road projects
discussed for 1988 include: building
up two and one-half miles on

Firefighters from Wingham
responded to a chimney fire last
Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Howick
Township.
According to Chief Harley Gaunt,
the call came at 5 p.m. to the Harold
Bell property, Lot 14, Con. C of
Howick. A chirmieY- fire resulted in
approximately $1,000 darnage to the
Bell home, aecordingto Mr. Gaunt.
Sideroad 25; digging out Victoria
Street in Lower Town for paving the
following year and construction on
the 10th Concession. •
The possibility of purchasing a
new truck with a two-way bOx and
•snowplow equipment also was
discussed, but Reeve Brian
McBurney, Deputy Reeve Doug

Underwood and Paul Elgie could not
be convinced it would be a good
investment at an estimated $7ie000.
However, Councilor Mery Baker
seemed to feel the truck could be
used effectively by the township,
• winter and summer.
• The road budget will be struck at
the next regular meeting of council,
March 8.
F. E. Madill drama group
captures awardsatBlyth
shared the award for best actor.
Angela Coultes, a Grade 12 Madill
Student, won special mention for her
supporting role.
The Madill drama club is working
on an original musical to be
presented in April.
A group of young actors from the
F. E. Madill Secondary School- in
Wingham won several awards at the
recent Central Huron Drama
Festival held at the Blyth Festival
Theatre.
Ron Smith, Madill teacher -advisor
for the group, said six schools
competed in the festival which was Donations m•ade
held Feb. 12 and Feb. 20. In addition
Seaforth, Listowel, Meaford and
to VVingham, groups from Clinton, by Turnberry
Cambridge also competed. Turnberry Township Council
