GORRIE-The annual Awana
Grand Prix, an event sponsored by
• the Gorrie Bible Fellowship, was
held at the Community Halt here,on
Friday.
Boys and girls betweenf three to 14
years of age each received a block of
wood 4 cm by 20 em and a set of
wheels and were asked to build a car
out -of the material.
Each participant then- entered
their car in one of three classes:
novelty, design or speed.
Winners of the novelty class were
• (in order of merit): Angela Mus-
grove (screwdriver); Kelly Hayden
(dog); Jared Dykstra (pickle) and
Karie Rutherford (shark).
In the speed class, Jeff Bramhill
was first, Katrina Bramhill, second;
Patti B. third, and Jeff Musgrove,
fourth.
The design competition was won
by Jeff Musgrove. Second was
Jamie Weber, Jennie Gibson
finished third and Carrie Gerrow,
fourth. '
In the leader's competition, -
winners of the novelty chits were:
Bernia Martin (alligator), ',Claude
Martin (pig),- Bramhill
(couch), and' Bob Brarnhill (ther-
mometer).
The speed sectiotv winner was
Beryl Martin followed by Bob Bram-
bill, •Bernie Martin and Claude
Martin. -
John Musgrove, Jim Ritskes and
Beryl M3rtin finished 1,2,3 in the
design competition.
Awana is a club for boys and girls
established by the Gorrie Bible
Fellowship. It stresses the teaching
of strong moral and spiritual values.
