• Nuggets play hard
at London tourney
The Wingham Kentucky Nuggets
Novice B team travelled to a tour-
nament in London last weekend.
The boys met a team from Byron
last Saturday morning. End-to-end
play between these two evenly -
matched teams resulted in a.
scoreless tie well into the third
period.
Wingham's David Laing opened
the scoring, assisted by Ryan
Robinson and Dean Walker. One
minute later, Wingham's Jamie
Good scored, assisted by Trevor
Huffman and Paul Machan.
With 1:46 left in the game, Byron
scored to end the game at 2-1 in
Wingham's favor.
The Nuggets took on a team from
Mooretown Sunday.
Mooretown scored three quick
goals in the first period before Laing
put Wingham on the scoreboard in
the second, unassisted. Then Walker
took the puck in for another
unassisted Wingham goal to make
the count 3-2 for Mooretown.
There was lots of exciting play
throughout the third period, but no
further scoring. Mooretown
managed to hang on for the 3-2 win.
All the boys are to be congratu-
lated for their energetic play in
these games. Each received a
"Byron " pennant for their par-
ticipation.
