Huron, Mich.
The boys were et tremely excited
as- they anxiously awaited the trip
and the prospect of playing against
an American hockey team.
Twelve teams from Ontario and
the United States represented their
various districts. The teams were
divided into four groups to form a
round-robi series with the, top two
teams advancing to the Silver Stick
championship side and the bottom
teams moving to the consolation side
of the tournament.
Howick formed a group
teams from Cincinnati
_Goulbourn, Ontario. The Ho
with
and
wick
- lads met the Cincinnati team the
evening of Jan. 14.
Howick started quickly as Chris
Reichard scored on a neat passing
play with Jaret Henhoeffer and
Philip Livermore. This was the lone
goal of the first period. The two
teams traded goals in the second
period with Andrew Weber scoring
on a rebound of a Steve Gibson
slapshot.
Howick played well in the third
frame as the team scored four
unanswered goals. Captain Gibson
had an excellent period as he figured
in all four goals, scoring two and
assisting on the others.
Weber scored his second goal of
the game when he bounced the puck
off the goalie's back from behind the
net. John Greig drew an assist on the
goal. Greig finished'the scoring with
a short-handed goal when he
outraced the Cincinnati defenceman
and beat the goalie with a 1
slapshot.
Mark Fraser had an excel'
game in the Howick net as
stopped all 16 shots, but one. T
final score was 6-1 for Howick.
