The Wingham and District Snowmobile
Club was to have held its poker rally last
Sunday, Jan. 17. However, mild weather
forced its cancellation. The poker rally has
been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 21.
The Optimist Club will host a special
Frostyfest bingo this Wednesday evening at
the Wingham Legion Hall, beginning at eight
o'clock.
This year's Frostyfest gets underway of-
ficially at this Thursday evening's Lions C1ui^
variety program at the Wingham Town Hall,
starting at eight o'clock. The highlight of the
evening will be the crowning of the Frostyfest
queen, prince and princess.
At press time it was expected at least five
young ladies will be vying for the title of
queen, while another eight boys and eight
girls are competing in the prince and princess
category.
Also at the program, the Wingham
Recreation Department will be obanding out
its Celebration '88 awards to five deserving
candidates and Frostyfest poster contest
winners will be presented with their prizes.
Andy Williams, popular CKNX personality,
°swill act as master of ceremonies and will
perform as well. Other acts scheduled to
appear include stepdancers, the high School
band the. Jump Rope for Heart team from the
Wingham Public School
Don't forget to stop by the Wingham stores
this week either, r .

Things get underway early Saturday`
morning at the annual pancake breakfast at
the Wingham Legion Hall. Come out- and
enjoy pancakes, sausages and delicious
maple syrup from 7 to 11 :SO a.m.
Also at the LegiGn Hall, -there will be sleigh
rides from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., sponsored by
the Optimist Club and the Legion. There also.
will be a free matinee for the children on
Saturday at the Lyceum Theatre, again
sponsored by the Optimists and free skating
at the rena from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday and i to
4 p.m. unday.
Cross-country ski enthusiasts will be
pleased to learn the annual .trek is scheduled
for, Sunday at the Langside trails,.
Registration is from. 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the
Legion Hall, while skiing is from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
There will be a minimal charge and prizes.
and refreshments will be supplied. A:bus will
take skiers to the trail at 2 p.m. from the
Legion.
