Correction A story in last week's edition of The Advance -Times incorrectly stated that East Wawanosh grader operator John McClinchey received a wage increase of 11 per cent. Eight tables of eager euchre players turned out for the, party which was convened by Joyce Doerr andKathy Waechter. The high man and high lady were Dave Murray and Marg King, with low man and lady being Helen Houghton (playing as a man) and Vera Murray. The door prize was won by Don McCormick. The local Junior C club played three times on the weekend, beating Port Elgin and Walkerton and tying the first place Hanover Barons. - On Friday night in Port Elgin, the 4ine --of –Paul-- - Brophy-, Smidy McDonald and Brett Martin stole the as -each -player -picked up two goals -in a 12-4, victory oyer the 'Bears. The line had a total of 17 points including eight by McDonald. Jamie Robinson fired two while singles went to Pan' Tolton, Scott Hackett, Steve Murray and Bevin Flett. Murray, who usually plays defence, was moved to left wing and collected fourpoint.; The win moved the Ironmen to within one point of the second place Bears and Wingham still had a game in hand. The next night, the Ironmen returned home to face the Walkerton Blackhawks who were still missi several players due to suspensions from the week before in Wingham The Hawks were tough in t opening period and went to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead. Pat Donnelly was given, credit for the goal which actually bounced into the net off a Wingham player, Walkerton got into penalty trouble in the second period and Wingham scored four times, including three on the powerplay. Jamie Robinson scored two of his three while Brett Martin added his first of two, and John Hewitt notched the other marker. Wingham added four more . in the third with Steve Murray and Jason GOodall scoring along with Robinson and Martin.
