WINTER HORSESHOES — Harold Metoalfe 01 Turnberry Township
warmed up before last Saturday's horseshoe tournament at the
Wingham Sportsmen's Olub. The club's dew indoor pits 'MOW horse-
shoes to continue all winter on tournamirt days and every Thursday
evening.
Sportsmen's club hosts
second January tourney
The second January horseshoe
tournament was held last Saturday
at the Wingham Sportgmen's Club.
Games of 30 points were played in
the 'A' division, while 40 -point
° games were enjoyed on the '13' side.
Ivan Gardner of Wingham and
Jack Arnold, Mildmay, were the 'A'
category winners with five wins and
a plus of 21. Harold Carter, Goderich
and, Bruce Ortlieb, Bluevale, were
second ily,44 five wins and a 'On of
n, irhile*d Lawson, Gedericli and
Laverne Hoegy of Dublin were third
with five wins and a plus of 7.
Bob Donaldson, London and Lorne
Hamilton, Wingham, were fourth
with three wins and a plus of 58.
Harold Metcalfe, Wingharn and Earl
Paulen, Mitchell, were fifth with two
wins and a plus of 37.
Ron Anderson of Exeter and Glen
Casemore, Wingham; were •sixth

with one win and a plus of 67, while
Alex Boa of.Goderich and Jack
Ward, Monktori were seventh with
no wins antd a plus of 142.
On the °IV side; Fred Wickens of
• Kitchener and •.Orville Storey of
Brodhagen were first with three
wins and a plus of 33.
Crystal IloaTCfoilerich and Ron
McCallum of Bornholm were second
.with two wins a/Ida:plus of 14.. Len
Smith of Bratnpton and John
Forrest, Dublin; were third with two
wins and a plus of 6.
Bob Gavreluk of Wingham and
John Wickens, Kitchener, were
fourth with two wins and a. plus of 51.
Jim Wickens of Whigham and -Glen
Sellers, Bluevaie, were fifth with one
win and a plus of 80.
Robert 'Thompson of Wingharn
was the lucky .winner of the 50-50
draw.

hockey action over.the weekend.
On Saturday the team played host
- to Hanover and both sidei played a
strong game with the first goal
coming late in the second period to
give Hanover a 1-0 lead, The
Winghain boys scored on a goal by
Creeden, assisted by Sangster,' to
end the period m a i-1 tie.
In the third period, Wingham

When Nettie Casemore, daughter
ef Mr. and Mai, George Casemore,
10th concession of Turnberry, went
for the cows, one evening. in October
of 1925, she was surprised and
horrified *find their best cow dead,
shot through the heart. About five
weeks ago, Mr. Casemore's dog was
shot. Aside froth the cruelty of the
affair, it is a hardship for anyone to
lose a valuable cow, worth 75
dollars.
