Mrs. Evan Keith of South Kinloss,
president, conducted the meeting

Wingham, Pianist. Mrs. Lorna
Stuart of the Wingham evening unit
welcomed the ladies to St. Andrew's
and Mrs. Glen Haldenby, .Kinlough,
read the minutes. The roll call was
answered by 56.
Correspondence was read by Mrs.
Evan MacLean, Ashfield and in-
cluded information from 'Crieff
Hills, banners for the 75th an-
niversary at London in 1989 and the
news that Eleanor Knott of India will
be returning to Canada for health
, reasons.
Mrs. Tom MacDonald, Kinlough,
read information of a Second -Mile
Project to assist with needs in
Guyana. It was decided to collect
Sunday School papers to be taken to
synodical in Wuidsor in April by
Mrs. Robert Arbuckle, Wingham
and each auxiliary is to help
financially with shipping charges to
Guyana.
Mrs. Bateman- gave the
treasurer's report.
The New Purpose was repeated in
unison. Mrs. Haldenby, candidate to
the ladies' camp last June, gave an
•enthusiastic report. Rev. John
Vaudry of St. Andrew's brought
greetings from presbytery. The
meeting adjourned for lunch, served
by the ladies' auxiliary, with grace
by Mr. Vaudry.
The afternoon session began with
a film entitled "Sights andSounds of
the Churches of the USSR" shown by
m. Arbuckle, Who will lend the
fihntii any auxiliary.
Mrs. Keith constituted the session
with a prayer. Devotions on the
theme "Walking With the Master"
were conducted by the Ashfield
WMS with Mrs. Warren Wylds
reading the scripture. Mrs. Charles
Wilkin gave the meditation with
thoughts of the new year being an
opportunity to renew our lives and
be guided by God's love.
"Faith in Christ is essential. We
need love and compassion to know
Mist," she said. Prayer followed
by Mrs. McLean.
The offering was received by Mrs.
Arbuckle and Mrs. Ken Leitch,
Wingham, with dedication by Mrs.
Leonard Clarke of South Kinloss.
Reports of the various secreOcies
were considered and adopted. Mrs.
Robert Bregman (Teeswater) gave
a report en the Congregational Life
meetings.
The presbyterial will sponsor a
child to stay at Camp Kintail. The
Bluevale WMS will select a child.
Mrs. Keith, who was a delegate to
council and congress at Winnipeg
last May, gave a very interesting
report of those meetings.
Mrs. William McCreath, Ripley,
has a display of books which will go
to each auxiliary when ordered.
Mrs. Ted English, Wingham,
installed the officers for i'.:, Mrs,
Joe Boron, Kincardine, gave the
axirtesies. After the closing hymn,
Mrs. Janet Inglis of Belmore closed
the meeting with prayer.

he federal government has announced
the 1987 extension of the Special
Canadian Grains Program.
The subsidy war between the United
States and the European Economic Community
is continuing to financially affett Canadian
farmers. This program. will help offset the low
world prices of 1987 grain, oilseed and special
crops caused by this subsidy war.
For crops produced in 1987, this special
assistance has been increased to $1.1 billion.
Also increased is the number of eligible crops.
The grain, oilseed and special crops included
in the program are listed below.
1 Fanners who applied for a payment
under the Special Canadian -Grains
Program last year have been mailed application
forms this year. Other farmers can obtain
forms by calling the toll-free number, or by
contacting:
• Agriculture Canada regional offices
• Farm Credit Corporation offices
• Offices of Members of Parliament
• Elevator agents

• Producer associations
• Provincial extension offices.
A separate application form will be
distributed to honey producers in
mid-February.

A first installment payment covering
total entitlement will be made before March 31,
1988. Final payments will be made by the end
of June.
Farmers who do not receive a first install-
ment payment will receive their total payment
in June.
The application deadline is
March 16th, 1988!
To be eligible for the assistance, -all farmers
must submit an application form. They must
be postmarked no later than March 16, 1988.
