Wingham is always something to see at Christmas -time and this year again Mr. Porter
has not disappointed anyone. His brightly -lit displays draw visitors from miles around.
AND WHAT'S YOUR NAME —Santa Claus took some time out from his busy
schedule on Sunday to attend the Optimist Children's Party at the Wingham Legion
Hall and deliver candy to all the good boys .and girls. The arrival of Santa was marked
with many shouts of delight by the almost 200 children at the party.

resume concerning the Fos-
ter child. The 10 -year-old
boy's father is dead. His
family of a sister and brother
lives tinder primitive condi-
tions with a grandmother
and uncle.
Their livelihood is obtain-
ed from poultry and vege-
tables. Two hundred and
seventy-six dollars are • re-
quired for his support. The
money is widely spent instal-
ling a family privy, repair-
ing walls, aiding the grand-
mother in health and welfare
and his• Scout training. The
boy resides in the Philippine
Islands, where typhoons os -
cur frequently.

Rev. John G. Roberts deliv-
ered the message. A question
and answer period with the
minister and choir members
revealed that colored elec-
tric lights and candles are
the prime Christmas decor-
ations.
Mr. Roberts asked "Will
the sun rise tomorrow? Is
there any place where it
doesn't rise?" The children
learned that beyond the Arc-
tic circle the light of the sun
is reflected for two hours
daily from late November
until the third week of Janu-
ary. Residents in some Nor-
wegian cities live in a period '
of darkness which creates
some problems.
Light is important in
northern Norway. Waiting,
hoping and lights are signifi-

keeps coming once and for
all. The light of understand-
ing. is not necessarily
brought by Christmas.
Appropriate hymns were
sung during the service
which was concluded by the
choir singing the benedic-
tion.
