Introduction To Wildlife Wood Carving - 1070060 S A practical course designed to introduce students to the tools and techniques in- volved in wood carving. Students will carve and texture a decorative water fowl, in accordance with the realistic bird carving art form tradition. Students will require a good quality carv- ing knife and wood burning pen. 'Wildlife Wood Carving - Level II - 7070070 S This is a practical course, designed to teach\students the techniques involved in more complex wood carving and to in- troduce students to the use of acrylic paints to add realism to their work. Each student will carve, texture, and paint a decorative wild fowl. After several weeks, three paintbrushes and six tubes of acrylic paint will be re- quired, which students will be expected to purchase at an art supply store, at an approximate cost of $30.00. METAL MACHINING NC Machining And Manual Programming - 4410400 A The course covers the major compo- nents of NC manufacturing systems, the application of Cartesian co-ordinates to machine tool motions, the types and cla- sifications of NC equipment, part pro- gramming methods, the types of hard- ware used for tape preparation and NC terminology. Additional topics include: NC tape speci- fications, coding and format, functional capabilites of, positioning and and con- touring NC machines, the operation of basic tape preparation systems, the pro- cess of developing NC manual part pro- grams. Students will perform the re- quired mathematical calculations and write manual part programs for position- ing and contouring NC manchine tools. Students, will understand manual and au- tomatic control of NC machine tools through the use of control console, ac- tivation of special machine functions for automatic tool and pallet changing, and interpretation of alarm and error mes- so sages. To be eligible, candidates should "1� have completed the Machine Tool Setter Operator program specializing in Engine Lathe, Turret Lathe, Horizontal Boring Mill or Milling Machine, or possess equivalent work experience. Conestoga College offers this 10 week urse in 2 parts. Part 1, three weeks in I ngth, should be attended early in preg- nancy but will be interesting and inform- ative to any expectant parent. Topics discussed include nutrition, lifestyle, physical and emotional changes associ- ated with pregnancy and early parenting decisions. Part 2 begins in the seventh month of pregnancy and continues for seven weeks. The focus is on labour and delivery and the early postnatal period. Expectant parents will learn to select and adapt various techniques to cope with whatever kind of labour will be practiced in class. Classes are taught in small groups by experienced health professionals with an enthusiasm for people and childbirth. Note: Expectant parents are encour- aged to register early in the pregnancy in order to be assured a place in our classes. Childbirth Review Series -1070030 N This series is designed for expectant parents who have completed a prenatal program in a prior pregnancy. Couples will review current obstetrical practices. Emphasis is placed on relaxation, a thor- ough review of breathing techniques and helping children to cope with the arrival of a newborn. Advanced NC Manual Programming - 4410410 A This course is designed to introduce the student to advanced circular interpola- tion, contour programming, repetitive cuts, curves and straight lines of a more complex nature. In addition, the student will be 'introduced to canned cycles, subroutines, threading and the use of cutter compensations. The stu- dent will write and process complex part programs. DOON Sat. 8:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. 13 wks. Jan. 25 $48 Computer Assisted Part Programming - APT -4410420 A This module is designed to introduce the student to the role of the computer in NC Programming. The student will learn to use the APT Language to write and pro- cess part programs for machining cen- tres to include planes, patterns, and for- mula defined regular surfaces. The objective is to provide the students with an under- standing of their cameras. Practical demonstrations and review of student photographs are included: Students will ' learn how to load the camera, identify and operate parts of the, camera and choose and create better pictures.
