This beginners Course is easy to write,
easy to read and deals with the basic
letter shapes in preparation for fluent
handwriting., It was developed by Alf. K.
Eb.sen and the Handwriters Guild of To-
ronto and will be' taught by a Guild mem-
ber.

Canadian System Of Calligraphy -
Intermediate - 7010030 S
Prerequisite: Canadian System Of Callig-
raphy -Basic.
The crowning glory of calligraphy is its
use as fluent handwriting for everyday
use. The Canadian System offers a
smooth transition from the basic letter
shapes to a joined, fluent handwriting. In
addition, complementary alphabets will
be taught, and increased design tech-
niques.

Copperplate - The Engraver's
Alphabet - 7010110 S
Prerequisite: Calligraphy, Canadian Sys-
tem of Calligraphy - Basic and/or Inter-
mediate courses or have knowledge of
Calligraphy.
This course will be of interest to en-
graver's and persons employed in' the
Graphic Arts field as well as those with a
personal interest in calligraphy. Partici-
pants will be introduced to the elegant
script of Copperplate - the engraver's al-
phabet. At She first session, participant'
will explore the proper weighting of the
flexible copperplate nib and then pro-
ceed to the lower case letters. At the
second session participants will study
the majestic Copperplate capital.
Students must bring ink, ruler, pencil.
Quality Bond paper and Mitchell Cop-
perplate Kit will be available at first class
- an approximate cost of $8.

Italics Workshop (Advanced
Calligraphy) - 7010040 S
Participants will study the Italic Alphabet
in both its historicand modern forms and
will be introduced to colour. Learn to use
watercolour from a dip pen and open up
a rainbow of colours for you lligraphic
use.
Please bring: Quad pads, ens, nibs,
ink. Mitchell nibs for the watercolour will
be available at the class. Approximate
cost of supplies $10-$12.

'doodles' take on life or form? Join us
and learn the language of cartooning.

figures.

Colour -Mixing Workshop - 7010060 N
If you paint in watercolour, oil or acrylic
and want to learn how to mix just THE
RIGHT COLOUR, this is the workshop
for you.
All aspects of colour will be discussed
including colour wheel, values, intensity
and hues. Colour exploration will be en-
couraged.

Creative Crafts For The Home -
7070010 S
If you enjoy making decorative items to
add colour and charm to your living
quarters, without tremendous expense,
this course is for you. Students will have
the opportunity to make a wide variety of
handicrafts, ranging from kitchen acces-
sories, to practical gadgets for theiwork-
shop, to children's books and toys. Each
student will complete one project, of his
or her own choosing, at every session. It
will be possible, for example, to spend
every class working on items for one
particular room or age group, or to make
a wide range of projects.
A finished sample of all of the craft se-
lections, including such things 'as refrig-
erator magnets, room organizers, per-
sonalized pillows, wall hangings, doll
clothes, key racks, light switch covers,
and picture frames will be on display the
first night of class. Patterns will be avail-
able for all projects. There will be some-
thing for everyone, regardless of age or
sex!

Introduction To Crochet.- 7070020 S
A course for the beginner covering basic
stitches, working pattern variations, pat-
tern reading, blocking and finishing
work. Yarns and crochet hooks are not
included in the fee. Students should
bring a c,rochet hook (No. 5 to 8) and
crochet material. Students will be able to
complete several small projects.

This basic course in drawing is designed
both for those who wish to express their
ideas on paper and for the artists who
wish to improve their drawimg ability.
The human figure is used for action
sketches and sustained finished draw-
ings as well as still life, architecture, light
and dark and perspective. Media in-
cludes conte'pencil, pen brush and col-
our renderings.

Duvet Workshop - 7030010 S
A 3 -hour mini -course on the special
techniques needed for making Europe-
an -style duvets. Topics include selection
of materials, measuring, baffling and
demonstration of filling. The teacher will
also discuss the making of duvet covers
and the care of a finished duvet.

Guitar - 7050120 S
Courses in Basic, Intermediate and Clas-
sical Guitar are offered.. Learn the
chords, notes and musical theory of gui-
tar playing. A guitar is required and
should be brought to the first class. Any
type of guitar will do. However, if you
haven't purchased one, the teacher will
assist you in choosing the best type to
suit your needs.
