Prerequisite is Grade 12 English or Eng-
lish IV or equivalent.
Prior to the first class, each student is
required to:
1. Fill out a detailed information sheet
(1/2 hour assignment)
2. Write a short diagnostic essay. 1
hours are to be spent organizing and
writing this essay, to be approximate-
ly 250 words in length. This essay will
be graded on a 1-5 point scale. In the
first class, specific feedback will be
given regarding assessed areas of
weakness on which to work in the
upcoming sessions.

Separation and divorce are becoming
more and more common but the individu-
als involved still suffer hurt, anger and
expense, try to find ways to help their
children and wonder what their legal po-
sition is. This course offers helpful hints •
from a male and female instructor and a
guest lawyer, as well as providing an op-
portunity for participant sharing and sup-
port.

This is a basic coarse in the use of sign

will progress from learning the funda-

Hospice Care Volunteer Training -

This course is designed for caring,
flexible people interested in working as
volunteers with Wellington Hospice, a
non-profit, community group. Hospice
care centers on the understanding and
management of the needs of the dying or
terminally Oland the bereaved. Students
will be helped to develop their own per-
sonal resources for assisting these peo-
ple through films, lectures, discusision
and practical exercises. Because of the
nature of the content, it is not intended
for people still actively grieving them-
selves.

as a tool in business and industry. The

This •is a course for those who wish to
familiarize themselves with the typewrit-
er keyboard in order to be able to oper-
ate computers more effectively. Upon
successful completion of the course, the
student will be able to type by touch,
from straight copy at a consistent typing
speed of 30 words per minute. Other

Computer Literacy For The Office -

Prerequisite: none (minimal typing skills
are an asset.)
This course provides an introduction to
computers from the point of view of an
office worker. The course considers
three major areas: word processing,
electronic spreadsheets for financial
analysis, and electronic 'data manage-
ment (databases). Each section includes
hands-on work on the College's comput-
ers. In addition, the course covers basic
elements of computers and some of the
jargon of computers.
The course will be of interest to secretar-
ial/clerical workers who wish to become
more saleable in the job market.
