The Early Childhood Education Co-ordinator will evaluate the courses and recom- mend exemptions to the Registrar when applicable. Program Eligiblity: 1. An Ontario Secondary School Gradu- ation Diploma or equivalent. 2. An Academic Upgrading Level IV Certificate or equivalent. 3. Nineteen Years of age or older. Applicant Assessment: 1. Preference is given to applicants with Level IV/Grade 12 standing in Eng- lish and to applicants with equivalen- cy. 2. Transcripts of applicants with an OSSGD are assessed for academic strength in Level IV/Grade 12 Eng- lish. 3. Applicants without an OSSGQ or out of school for two or more years may be assessed to determine readiness in English. 4. Assessment of communication skills through a College administered test. 5. Assessment of the information con- tained in completed Conestoga Col- lege medical forms. 6. Assessment of the information con- tained in the completed Early Child- hood Education Program Question- naire. Applicants are required to visit a day care centre or nursery school to complete one of the items on the questionnaire. 7. Assessment of personal suitablility' through an interview with 'program personnel. Program Admission: Applicants will be admitted to this pro- gram based on the program eligibility re- quirements and the applicant assess- ment results. Emphasis will be placed on the roots in society, resources required and available, and what human service professionals can do. This course is par- ticulary useful for clergy, social service workers, police, health practioners, teachers, and counsellors. Human Growth And Behaviour - 138050 R This course will be of particular interest to anyone working in a Human Service area' Persons who successfully com- plete all course requirements will receive credit if accepted into the College's So- cial Service Diploma Program. The course materials are designed so . that you can study at home at your own pace. You will also have the opportunity to attend a group seminar each week for discussion and to view videotapes which will enhance the written materials. You will need to devote approximately six additional hours per week to self-direct- ed study. You will study the normal growth pro- cess from conception to death including physical, social, intellectual, emotional and behavioural development. You will also gain an understanding of how unu- sual or abnormal development or beha- vioural patterns are developed.
