Students will select a specialty machine
from:
- Engine Lathes
- Turret Lathes
- Milling Machines
- Grinding Machines
In addition to shop practice on the se-
lected machines (s), students will receive
instruction in machine shop theory in-
cluding: safety, blueprint reading, calcu-
lations, and layout.
The program is conducted in the evening
at Guelph Campus and on Saturdays at
Doon Campus. Students must supply
their own safety glasses and sturdy
shoes.
Program Eligibility:
Applicants should have an Academic
Upgrading Level I11 Certificate or equiva-
lent or Nineteen years of age or older.
Applicant Assessment:
Applicants may be required to attend a
personal interview and/or complete an
assessment to determine suitability for
the program.
Program Admission:
Applicants will be admitted based on
program eligibility requirements and/or
the applicants assessment results.

Successful applicants will be mailed a
detailed schedule of his/her learning ac-
tivities prior to the start date.

GUELPH
Mon. & Wed. 6-10 p.m.

Not all specialties are always available at
both campuses.
NUMERICAL CONTROL
MACHINE TOOL SETTER
OPERATOR (NC MTSO) C
This 300 hour program (38) weeks is de-
signed to prepare a studentfor positions
as a NC machine tool setter operator ei-
ther for turning or machining centres.
Students will understand the concept of
NC machine tools as well as NC manual
programming and NC system operating
procedures. Graduates will be able to
safely and efficiently set up and operate
NC machine tools. Topics covered will
include: Principles of NC, Fundamentals
of NC Manual Programming, NC Machin-.
ing Centres Set -Up, NC Machining Cen-
tres Operating, NC Turning Centres Set -
Up and NC Turning Centres Operating.
Classes are scheduled two evenings per
week starting Monday and Tuesday,
Monday and Wednesday pr Monday and
Thursday, 6:00-10:00 p.m.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be 19 years of age or
older and a graduate of the Machine
Tool Setter Operator program or have
experience in conventional machining.
Assessment:
Applicants may be asked to participate
in tests' to demonstrate mathematics,
blueprint reading, and measuring skills.
Admission:
Applicants will be admitted to this pro-
gram based on eligibility requirements
and assessment results.
Successful applicants will be notified of
their schedule prior to the start date.
Note: Students must supply their own
safety glasses and sturdy shoes.
