Module IX - Clinical: Application Of
Therapeutic Interventions - 90D0090
This module provides the student with an
opportunity to advance and specialize in
individually designed clinical practice
through the use of learning contracts
and individual supervision. Students are
encouraged to take part in mutual plan-
ning that best meets their needs. The
emphasis is placed upon the integration
and application ofcore theory and class-
room experience into his/her unique
style of current practice. Through use of
group tutorials, students are provided
with the opportunity of: sharing care is-
sues common to the students; utilizing
other students as learning resources re-
lated to variety of settings; gaining feed-
back from peers related to personal ex-
periences.

REGISTERED NURSE -
REFRESHER PROGRAM C
The Registered Nurse - Refresher Pro-
gram is a 312 hour program designed to
assist the registered nurse who has not
actively practiced nursing for a period of
time to demonstrate competence in
accordance with the current standards
of Nursing Practice of the College of
Nurses of Ontario.
It focuses on the use of the nursing pro-
cess as applied to caring for individuals
with medical -surgical health concerns.
The College is currently revising and up-
dating the Registered Nurse - Refresher -
Program to reflect new developments in
the Nursing Profession. The next offer-
ing of the program is tentatively sched-
uled for September, 1986. In the interim,
prospective applicants are encouraged
to take advantage of other Continuing
Education courses and to obtain re-
quired certification in Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
PROGRAM
Effective management of volunteers re-
quires a very different approach and set
of skills than are used for other kinds of
management. Today many organizations
engage a co-ordinator to work withpaid
and volunteer staff to help achieve the
goals of an ,organization. The aim of this
125 hour program is to provide Co-ordi-
nators of Volunteers with management
skills needed to function effectively in
this capacity. Through application of
management theories the student will
gain insights into leadership, motivation,
human resources development, organi-
zational climate, planning and evalua-
tion.
The program is designed to offer learn-
ing in a concentrated approach to ac-
commodate busy schedules. Nine (one
day) sessions will be held monthly from
September to May with a field practicum
running concurrently.
Program Eligibility:
Nineteen years of Ade or Older.
Applicant Assessment:
- Preference will be given to applicants
who possess basic salaried or non -sal-
aried experience in the Co-ordination
of Volunteer Services.
- Assessment of the information con-
tained in the complete Volunteer
Mangement Program Questionnaire.
- Assessment of suitability through an
interview with program personnel.
Program Admission:
Applicants will be admitted to this pro-
gram based on the program eligibility re-
quirements, and the applicant assess-
ment results.
Applications are now being accepted for
the next program intake in September
1986 at the Waterloo Campus.

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
PROGRAM - LEVEL I C
The Program aims to help fill the con-
tinual need for qualified personnel to
perform specialized functions in the
fields of work measurement, methods
anaylsis, plant layout, material handling,_.a
and cost estimating.
The courses in the Program provide the
student with many of the tools and
techinques which have proven effective
in the analysis, improvement and control
of work. The student also receives
grounding in the knowledge of manufac-
turing processes, industrial organization.
Upon successful completion of the eight
course Program, the student will receive
a Conestoga College Certificate.
Admission Requirements:
- Math"mahcs Pretest
- Completion of Industrial Engineering -
Level I Questionnaire.
Applicants who do not meet the admis-
sion requirements, may schedule an in-
terview with the Co-ordinator to discuss
possible upgrading for program admis-
sion.
Motion and Time Study is 60 hours in
duration, the other courses are 30 hours
in duration.
It is recommended that ,students take
Basic Blueprint Reading - Mechanical
and Manufacturing Processes to pre-
pare themselves for the other six cours-
es.

Blueprint Reading - 4030070 R
This course is an introduction to blue-
print reading. Students will be able to
apply the principles of orthographic pro-
jection and read and interpret technical
drawings.

Dimensional Metrology - 4430030 R
Dimensional aspects of quality control
will be studied in this course. Topics will
include a study of precision measuring
instruments relating to the measurement
of surface finish, flatness, parallelism,
straightness, squareness, roundness,
threads, tapers and hardness testing.

Industrial Organization And
Management - 2010010 R
This course is an overview of the indus-
trial organizational structures and the
department relationships, the team ap-
proach, decision making, management
and supervisory techniques, production
control, inventory control, materials han-
dling, cost reduction, and the use of
computer systems and data.

Manufacturing Processes - 4410260 R
This course covers the processes used
in manufacturing industries involving
foundry methods, sheet metal forming,
protective coating and surface finishes,
forging, machining and welding meth-
ods, rubber products processing, and
leather and plastics processing.
