GORRIE - Howick meetings will be filled Deputy Reeve Gera D'Arcey will have to wait t Dec. 3 to assume the reeve chair but when he does, says he'll be •ready to "g back to the business off th township". Reeve -elect D'Arcey say the township has bee grappling with the questio of fire protection ion enough. "It's time now t reassess the whole thing a come up with a solution." In an interview with thi paper, Deputy Reev D'Arcey was angry about th recent decision by th Wingham and Area Fire Board to increase its fee to non-member municipalities purchasing protection from Wingham by one and a half times to $1500 an hour. "If the Wingham and Area Fire Board is going to be that far out, maybe Howick shouldn't have anything to do with it," he said. "The way I see it, Howick may end up with its own fire hall without Wingham." He said with the equity Howick would receive if it pulls out of the Wingham and Area Fire Board, it could build its own hall. "We already have the men training," he said. He, expressed cynicism over the quality of the fire equipment Howick would receive from the fire board, noting that in 1988 all fire equipment will be inspected by the province to make sure t is up to par with safety tandards. He suggested the quipment Howick would ave then would simply not meet standards.
