Miss Stafford, a recent
exchange student to Swit-
zerland, showed slides taken
during her stay and provided
a commentary on her ex-
perience. She also had slides
of her trip with her family to
Italy.
At the first of the year in
Switzerland, she said, the
exchange students spent
some time in Germany to
take a crash course in the
Swiss language. The large
school where they studied
held classes six days a week
and had a busy and difficult
curric'hlum, but Miss
Stafford said she enjoyed
most of it.
After the slides, she
regaled the ladies with a
hilarious account of her trip
back home.
In other business at the
meeting, it was agreed to
send a Christmas gift of
MRS. GEORGE BROWN
money to the two han-
dicapped people' at Orillia

ganist, accompanied the
children's choir as it sang "I
Believe", then they occupied
the centre front pews to re-
ceive the message which was
on the theme of baptism.
Baptism means that some-
one is being received into
church membership. It is al-
ways a public, never a pri-
vate celebration, Mr. Rob-
erts said.
There are three reasons
for this:
Faith — Baptism is a pub-
lic declaration of faith in
Jesus.
Repentance — Water is
used to declare washing or
cleansing; to baptize is to
cleanse. The baptized one is
entering a fellowship of be-
lievers in God, and therefore
is given a fresh start through
forgiveness. We must con-
stantly ask and receive for-
giveness.
Service — Baptism is al-
ways a call to serve the Lord.
Parents want their child to
serve Christ so they must
teach the meaning of serving
Christ to the child. At confir-
mation the child will affirm
his decision. '
The order of baptism as
presented in the Service
Book was used to receive
Scott Michael, infant son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fol-
kard, into the church.
The benediction was sung
by the . choir, followed by
lunch and a period of fellow__
shi-pl`n f the schoolroom.
