The many friends of Mr. D. C.
McInnis will regret to know that he
is confined to his bed at Mitchell.
Mrs. Harold Taylor and little son
have returned home after an extend-
ed visit in Summerside, New Jersey.
Mr. W. H. Gregg, who had the,
misfortune to fracture his leg, is a-
round again with the aid of crutches
and is again at work in his new' es-
tablishment.
Rev. F. E. Clysdale will give his
popular lecture "Canada' The Land
we Love," at the Constance Method-
ist church, near Seaforth, on Monday
of next week.
Mr. E. Davies, who has been in
charge of the Dominion Stores in Ex-
eter, 'was transferred to London last
week. Miss Tenie McCurdy is in
charge of the store.
Mr. and Mrs. John Newcombe and
family, of Stratford, and Mr. , and
Mrs. Fred Flintoff, „sof Milwaukee,'
visited friends in Exeter and Us -
borne on Sunday.
Progress is being made "on Mr.
John Taylor's new building on the
corner of Main and Ann Streets.
Mr. Taylor intends having the struc-
ture faced with cement... He is in-
stalling a new gasoline tank.

The Synod of the Diocese of Huron
began it's annual -meeting in London
at Cronyn Memorial Hall, on Mon-
day last. Rev. Mr. Rogers, of St.
Paul's Cathedral, Detroit and well
known to radio fans, will be the spe-
cial preacher.
Mrs. S. Johnston was taken quite
suddenly ill on Sunday evening and
was confined to her bed for a few
days. She is recovering very, nicely
at present. Her daughter, Miss Ila
was home from Seaforth at the time
and is remaining for a week.
The sales - barns on John St. -. be-
longing to the estate ,of the late A:
J. McDonnell, were put up for auc-
tion on Saturday last:` A bid of
3300,00 was the only one received
and as this was below the reserved
bid, the barns were not sold.

fin Victoria hospital, London, for a
couple of weeks underwent a serious
operation on Friday last. Mr. Kest-.
le's friends will be pleased to know
that the operation was successful
and that he is progretoing as well as
might be expected,
The Young People's -Dramatic
club of James St. church motored to
Clinton Monday evening and pre-
sented their play "The Dream that
came True,"; to a fairly large and
appreciative audience. ' Following
the play they were entertained to -re-
freshments by the Young People of
Ontario St. Methodist church. The
orchestra comprising R. Goulding at
the piano, W. Mills, on the violin -
and E. J. ,Christie with the drums,.

The Oddfellows hada big night,
in their lodge rooms Tuesday. The
lnitatory degree team of the Bruce
field lodge, motored down and ex
emplified the work of the initatory'
degree, They conferred it in a' very
creditable and impressive manner,
the different officers taking their
parts well. Following the initatory
degree the Exeter brethren confer-
red the first . .
