The '13ettei• Live Stock Train, con-.
prising nine ca, -loads of hi.ghsciass
stock and poultry with special Clem,
onstration and lecture cars, visited;
Exeter on J'itesday morning and was
visited by. a great many tanners of
the district and citizens of the town.
Several of the rooms at the school
were dosed at eleven o'clock and the
scholars visited . the train. The first
cars visited contained some high. class
Shorthorn, .zlolstein and Jersey Cat
they 'export and grade steers. Four
cows in one of the cars were said to
give.as much milk as twelve ordinary
cows, one Holstein giving a'ls'nrtsev-
enty pounds at a 'milking. The ex-
hibition demonstrated that by proper
feeding, steers could be fitted for ex-
port in" about two years.
In the car of hogs, emphasis was
Iaicl on, the bacon type of hog, and
several animals were exhibited show-
ing the kind that was profitable
and also several that were not prof-
itable to raise. Bacon sides were
also on, exhibition.
The car of sheep attracted some
attention, but not as much as some
of the other cars. . In this car,' were
a number of choice sheep of different
breeds. ,The poultry car was an in-
teresting spot and different kinds
were

without a, Municipal Tag of 1924.

demonstrated. •
Several lecturers accompanied the
train and two ears were used for lec-
ture purposes, lecttu•es being given
on the different lines of -stock on ex-
hibition. Tlie key -note of the exhi-
bition is not more stock but better
stock, more production with less
numbers, scientific breeding and
feeding.
One of the demonstrations consis-
ted of a farm water supply with
plumbing fixtures; bath outfits, ete.,
for farm homes.
