Melville WMS meets in the church parlor BRUSSELS — The Wo- men's Missionary Society of ' the Melville Presbyterian Church met March 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the church parlor. The meeting was held one week earlier than scheduled to accommodate guest. speaker Ann Jamieson, who told of her upcoming mission to Brazil. Mrs. MacLeod, the group's new president, opened the meeting by repeating the words of "Rejoice, the Lord Is King" and the hymn by the same name was sung. Mrs. MacLeod sang a solo, "His Name Is Wonderful", and all joined in the chorus. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were given and accepted. Three Belgrave ladies were welcomed to the meeting. The meeting then was turned over to Mrs. Evelyn Mair and Mrs. Isabel Adams, who took the program from the Glad Tidings. The hymn "Christ the Lord Is Risen" was sung and Mrs. Mair delivered the meditation. The scripture from the Book of Luke was read by Mrs. Adams._The hymn "Hallelujah, Halle- lujah" was sung and Mrs. Martin led in prayer. Mrs. MacLeod sang a solo entitled "Jesus, Jesus". Mrs. Jamieson closed the meeting with prayer. A lunch was served by the committee in charge and a social time was enjoyed. • • a. Ribbon Banquet skit highlights WMS meeting solo, "Who Is He in Yonder Stall?",accompanied by Mrs. Paul Millis at the piano and Gordon Wall with violin., The members sang the answer. Mrs. W. Lapp gave a reading, . "One Solitary Life", and treasurer Mrs. Wall received the offering which was dedicated by Mrs. Conn. Mrs. Bateman conducted the business, secretary Mrs. C. Tiffin read the minutes and correspondence and called the roll and. Mrs. Wall gave her report. Mrs. W. Ford presided at the piano throughout the meeting. Mrs. Conn closed the meeting with prayer. Hostesses for the meeting were Miss Agnes Williamson and Mrs. D. Ritchie. The Women's Missionary Society of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Wingham, held its Easter Thankoffering meeting on April 2 in the upper room. An interesting highlight of the meeting was a skit presented by 11 ladies, entitled the Ribbon Banquet. Each lady had on display a casserole. She gave the recipe for the casserole which she found in the Bible story contained in St. Matthew's Gospel, chapters 20 to 28. Mrs. J. Conn opened the meeting with a reading entitled "The Triumph of Easter" and a prayer for spring. Mrs. J. McKague read scripture from St. John's Gospel, chapters 19 and 20, and gave the meditation. Mrs. H. Bateman led in prayer. Unit leader Mrs. Wheeler conducts Easter worship BLUEVALE — Mrs. Lloyd Wheeler, leader of Unit Four of Bluevale United Church Women, chose as the topic for her meditation, "Who Will Roll the Stone Away?", at the Easter meeting, reminding the members of their lack of faith in over- coming their problems. Mrs. Keith Nicholson sang a very appropriate solo, "Jesus Is Lord of All", and also led in a closing prayer. The business part of the meeting was conducted by Mrs. Ross Nicholson, president, after Mrs. Peacock read the minutes and Mrs. James Casemore gave the financial report. A vote of thanks was extended Mrs. Murray MacFarlane and .Mrs. Harold . Johnston for their timeand effort. in finding -a new copier for use by the congregation, with a charge of ten cents per copy for other uses. A cover is to be purchased by Mrs. Casemore. `The cold meat supper being held on May 28 is to be planned by the unit leaders and Mrs. Charles Mathers, convener of teas and bazaars. Admission will remain at $5.00 for adults, $2.50 for 6 -12 -year-olds. Letters from the group's sponsored child were read and were quite interesting, telling of his school work and his everyday life. Mrs. Mathers will attend the Alma College Weekend. An invitation was received from the Wingham UCW to attend a meeting to hear Miss Martha Veldhuis of Burlington speak, also "t'o- attend their Tulip Tea. Two new Mrs. Agnes Caskanette, Victoria Street, Wingham, received a telephone call Monday, April 1, from her son, Captain Wilfred Caskanette, Canadian Forces Base, Calgary. His message contained the news of a transfer to Lahr, West Germany. He Will "com- mence his new duties as hospital administrator in mid-July. Captain Caskanet- te is married with two chil- dren. His wife Sandra and son Stephen will accompany him to Germany while their daughter Pauline will re- main in Calgary where she attends Western University. Good Friday guests with Mrs. Rowland Ballagh and Lavonne were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bronson of Elmira, Ron Bronson of Ottawa and Carolyn Bronson, London. Mr., and Mrs. Don Dirstein, Richard and.
