This Work Measurement and Standard
Data course is designed as a follow-up
to Motion and Time Study.
Included in the course are: maintaining
sound standards, time study for stan-
dard data,' predetermined motion - time
systems for standard data, standard
data development, graphs, formulae,
tables and check sheets, controlling
and standard data, computer use of
standards, measuring 'non -repetitive
and low volume work.

PERSONNEL COURSES
Recruitment And Selection A
The student will learn the prjtciples of
forecasting manpower requirements,
advertising, recruiting, selecting, and
orienting new personnel.
Basic screening, testing, interviewing,
and counselling procedures are dis-
cussed. and their related. legal aspects
reviewed.

Contemporary Political Issues
This course will examine various con-
temporary Canadian, national, and in-
ternational issues as well as provincial
issues of current interest. Topics can
include constitutional issues, multicul-
turalism in Canada, Quebec separation
and provincial problems, individual
rights, employment and research and
development policies.

An examination of psychological princi-
ples involved in the interaction of the
individual and society. Topics include

Small Business Economics R
This course examines the principles and
skills required for the administration of

small private enterprises. Topics in-
clude: legal forms of business organiza-
tion, finance, credit, taxation, govern-
ment involvement, layout and locational
factors, risk management, and merchan-
° dising.

STATIONARY ENGINEERING
Stationary Engineering - 4th And
3rd Class
Practical training together with suc-
cessful completion of the modular ex-
aminations and the required steam time
will result in 4th and/or ' 3rd Class
Stationary Engineering certificates. The
intent is to offer practical and theoreti-
cal courses each term depending upon
demand. A minimum of Academic Up-
grading Level111 or Grade 10 is re-
quired. All entrants seeking certification
will make their own arrangements to
write the examinations specified by
'their local Skills Development Branch.
Adults who are not currently working in
the field but wish to enhance their
employability in the, area may partici-
pate..
Most of the required texts will be
available the first evening for the
registered students at the Continuing
Education Book Store.
Due to the similarity of topics in the 3rd
and 4th blocks, both classes will be,
taught at the same time. However,
students must successfully complete
the lower class examination blocks
first.
For Qualification as a 3rd or 4th Class
Stationary Engineer, th.e following
Blocks must be completed along with
qualifying work experience:

Due to the similarity of the, topics in this
theoretical course both 4th and 3rd
Class levels will be, taught. Students
will receive one hour of each of the
following every evening they attend:
Mathematics I and 11
Physics 1 and If
Thermodynamics 1 and 11
Block 641 must be successfully com-
pleted before the Block 631 may be at-
tempted.

knowledge of steam boilers and steam
plant auxiliary equipment.
Topics include: modern steam boilers,
boiler erection and operation, boiler
valves, pumps, fittings and piping sys-
tems, feedwater heaters, economizers
and air preheaters.

This course will provide the basic
knowledge of air and gas compression,
heating, refrigeration and air.. condition-
ing.
Topics include: air compressors, con-
trols, auxiliary equipment, maintenance
of compressors, steam and "hot water
heating, ventilation, air conditioning,
regulations and maintenance of equip-
ment.
