The program is designed to offer
learning in a concentrated approach to
accommodate busy schedules. Nine
(one day) sessions will be held monthly
from September to May with a field
practicum running concurrently.
Modules include the following:
- Management and Philosophy of
Volunteer Administration 15 hrs.
- Skills of Volunteer Co-ordination
35 hrs.
- Program Planning and Evaluation
15 hrs.
- Fieldwork Practicum 60 hrs.

COURSES FOR REGISTERED
NURSING ASSISTANTS
Note: To enrol in any of the following
courses, applicants must provide a
photocopy of Current College of Nurses
of Ontario Certificate of Competence as
a Registered Nursing Assistant of proof
of eligibility for registration through the
College of Nurses of Ontario.
In addition, the registrant must com-
plete Conestoga College medical forms
for the RNA - Administration of Medica-
tions courses.
Preference will be given to registered
nursing assistants required by their
employing agencies to take the course.
Registered Nursing Assistant -
Administration Of Medication A
The RNA - Administration of Medica-
tions course (theory and clinical experi-
ence) is intended to enable registered
nursing assistants to meet the minimum
competencies in the administration of
medications that are outlined in the
revised Standards of Nursing Practice
for Registered Nurses and Registered
Nursing Assistants. The course is
aimed to meet the learning needs of
registered nursing assistants who have
had a variety of experience.
This course is composed of 52 hours of
contact time. In addition to 12 weeks of
classroom theory, there will be sikteen
hours at the clinical agency arranged
as time permits.

Registered Nursing Assistant -
Administration Of. Medications,
(Clinical) A
This module will include the clinical/lab
practice and theory review in the
administration of medications and of-
fered only to RNA's who have success-
fully taken the theory module "Drug
Therapy and Nursing Implications in
Long Term Care for RNA's" at Cones-
toga College. The satisfactory comple-
tion of both will enable the RNA to
meet the minimum competencies in the
administration as outlined in the revised
Standards of Nursing Practice for Reg-
istered Nurses and Registered Nursing
Assistants.
This module will be offered at various
locations and times for Spring '85. For

Aseptic Procedures A
This course will enable the Registered
Nursing Assistant to meet the minimum
competencies in surgical asepsis as
outlined in the revised Standards of
Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses
and Registered Nursing Assistants. The
course is aimed to meet the learning
needs of RNA's who have had a variety
of experiences. Students will be super-
vised in classroom laboratory sessions.

HEALTH CARE AIDE
PROGRAM C
The goal of the Program is to prepare a
person to function under the supervision
of the Registered Nursing staff and the
direction of the Physician in a long-term
Care facility. Students learn to assist
residents of varying ages to meet their
basic emotional, social and physical
needs.
Admission Requirements:
- Academic Upgrading Level III Certifi-
cate or equivalent, or grade ten from an
Ontario Secondary School or mature
'student status.
- currently employed and employed for a
minimum of one year as .an aide dealing
with resident care in a geriatric setting or
a long-term care institution, such as a
nursing home, home for the aged,

- submission of completed Conestoga
College health certificates, signed by a
doctor, indicating god health.
- the required immuftzation to work in a
health setting as specified by Conestoga
College.
The Program onsists of the following

- Specc Conditions In Long -Term

CARDIOPULMONARY
RESUSCITATION (C.P.R.)
Basic Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (C.P.R.) N
This is the Ontario Heart Foundation
course in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Successful. students will receive a cer-
tificate from the Ontario Heart Founda-
tion.
Applicants are required to complete a
brief medical questionnaire indicating
medical condition. Applicants who do
not meet the medical conditions re-
quired for this course will not be admit-
ted.
Note: Persons wishing to enroll in the
Basic C.P.R. cours.e should apply "in
person" in order that they may fill out a
questionnaire and pick up the required
texts.
