Japanese Flower Arranging
(Basic) S
A 'practical course in Japanese flower
arranging, in accordance with the
famous lkebana tradition, which in �°
volves simple combinations of branches
and flowers, using specific rules and
furms.
Students will require a Kensan (pin -
holder). These 'Will be available for
purchase ,the first night of class for
approximately $25. An additional
charge wilt be made for flowers and
supplies of approximately $5 per week.

A course designed to introduce the
amateur to the fundamentals of painting
in terms of, techniques, selection of
brushes, preparation of canvas and

Introduction To Silk -Screen
Printing S
Students wilt be given a grounding in
several different methods of silk-screen
printing on paper. They will learn to
make simple and more complex de-
signs in one, two or three colours
which /can be used td print person-
alized Christmas cards invitations,
posters, book -plates or works of art.

Intermediate Silk -Screen Printing S
Prerequisite: Introduction to Silk -
Screen Printing. Students will have an
opportunity to exploit skills gained
earlier, to improve accuracy and to
create more complex designs. The,
emphasis in this course will be on
artistic values. Additional techniques
will be explored. Photographic method
is not included.

Introduction To Silversmithing S
Practice the techniques used in fash-
ioning a simple piece of jewelry. Topics
include: design, forming, heating with 'a
torch, and working the piece. Students
pay for materials. Projects include
pendants, rings and pins.

Stained Glass S
Learn the basic fundamentals in the art
of Tiffany Style, glass work. Topics
include: the history, pattern making,
cutting, copper foiling, soldering and
assembling. Students will make a small
window and, time permitting, two other
projects. Candidates should expect to
spend at least $50 on tools and materi-
als.

Introduction To Air Traffic
Control S
This course is not part of the formal
A.T.C. training. However, it will be of
value to those who may wish to enter this
field. It is also useful for student or
private pilots, or those with an interest in
civil aviation.
Topics include: Ground Control and Air
Control; designated Air Space, Airways,
Authority of Aviation, "Airport. Lighting,
Aircraft Recognition, a field trip to a local
ATC unit, VFR Flight Procedures, VFR,
SVFR Weather Minima, CVFR and
Weather Requirements, NORDO • and
RONLY Procedures, Wake Turbulence,
Weather Limits IFR, Cruising Altitudes,
Meteorology.

Basic Assertiveness Training For
Adults S
Assertiveness is defined as the ability
to respond) to a manipulative situation
in a non-aggressive, non -passive way.
If you do not have this skill, if you are
not getting where you want to go, then
this .program is for you. There are no
prerequisites.
This. course will be conducted in a
workshop format and will involve a
theory and a practical experience com-
ponent. The experiential component will
be emphasized and will entail working
through a hierarchy of manipulative
situations using assertiveness tech-
niques. Resulting emotions and con-
sequences will be explored.
