Homes S
Homes are being built across Canada
that heat, for under $200 a year. This
seminar will give the homeowner an
understanding of how to design a low
energy/patswe solar home.
Ypu will feview methods of building
heat loss, discuss techniques for min-
imizing building heat loss (e.g. double
stud wall, air -tight vapour' barrier),
discuss air-to-air exchangers, discuss
building layout and floor plan in reduc-
ing energy use, examination of proper
window selection and placement in-
cluding insulating shutters, discuss use
of thermal mass to reduce energy
consumption and moderate tempera-
tures, and examination into attached
greenhouses and sunspaces:
The seminar will conclude with, a slide
prese.ntation of low energy passive
solar homes from across Canada.Sem-

No experience reading blueprints is
required. People who do read,bkieprints
could attend this as a refresher course.
Topics include: the history of drafting,
types of projections, linework, dimen-
sions, and sketching. Actual shop

Blueprint Reading (Architectural
And Structural) A
The student will learn hpw to read
blueprints and will be given a brief
introduction to construction estimating.
Emphasis is placed on accurate analy-
sis of working drawings for commercial
and industrial structures. The course
provides a comprehensive interpreta-
tion of architectural drawings. Instruc-
tion starts with the professional devel-
opment of plans and proceeds through
the interrelationship of professional ar-
chitectural requirements to the engi-
neering disciplines.

This course covers the basic concepts
of differentiation, integration and in-
cludes practical applications. Both the
indefinite and definite integral will be
investigated, with applications dealing
