Bookkeeping/Accounting A Students must complete Bookkeeping Fundamentals before commencing Bookkeeping /Accounting. This course will introduce the student to essential bookkeeping/accounting principles and concepts with practical application. Topics include: Adjustments; Financial Statements; the Accounting Cycle; In- ventory Valuation; Coding for Automat- ed Accounting. Each student progresses at his/her own rate. A7 Note: More than one semester may be required to complete the course. Machine Transcription - Introduction. A Prerequisites: Introduction to Typewrit- ing II and Grade 10 or Level III English. In this course, the student learns how to use transcribing equipment in order to process words from the dictation machine to the typewritten page. A9' Machine Transcription - Production A Prerequisite: Machine Transcription - Introduction. This course further devel- ops the skills acquired rin the introduc- tory course by providing ,additional machine transcription practice in a wide variety of drill material. Apr, 13 $27 Rm. A9 Shorthand • A Prerequisites: Introduction to Typewrit- ing and Grade 10 or Level III English. The Shorthand course is divided into two levels; Shorthand - Basic and Shorthand - Advanced. • In Shorthand - Basic level, you will study the theory and principles of Forkner Shorthand and• you should attain a speed of . 50-60 words per minute on familiar material. To be successful in the Shorthand - Advanced level, you must attain a speed of 80 words per minute by applying the theory and principles learned in the Basic level. Shorthand vocabulary, phrasing, and short-cut techniques will be developed. Persons who have learned . another system of shorthand within the past three years but need to "brush, up" their skills can be accommodated. Offered at: Cambridge Mon. 7 f'0 p.m. 12 wks. The course is comprised of three levels: Introduction to Typewriting I, Introduc- tion to Typewriting II and Production Typewriting. The student progresses through these levels at his/her own speed.. Students with access to . a typewriter at home may progress a a faster rate. Beginner typists should' be able to complete Introduction to TYPe- writing 1 and begin Introduction to Typewriting 11 in , one 12 week term. Students who attend classes only one night per wee.k will take longer to achieve their goals. It is possible to register for another term.
